After laying some roses down on the graves of Rage's family, we walked arm in arm back to the community celebration.
I leaned into Rage's chest, while he left butterfly kisses on my hair every once in awhile. We watched the children dance to their native music as we sat on a porch with the elder ladies and their husbands.
I was comfortable.
More than comfortable.
I felt content.
"Rage." I whispered.
His chest rumbles when he hums.
"Can you promise me something?" I asked turning around to face him. Our breaths mix together when I locked my gaze to his.
I sat on the second stair in between his legs while he sat on the top one with his arms wrapped around me.
"I can promise you anything, Scar. Anything apart from being away from you." He replies.
I nod and laid my palm on his chest right over his heart. It started beating under my small palm like he just ran a marathon.
It somewhat made me smile.
I affect him just as much as he does to me.
"Will you promise to keep Timmy safe for me?" I ask, my voice cracking.
He has trusted me enough to tell me about all his secrets. But I am still not close to telling him about my past. I don't even think I can. Even if I learn to trust him someday. I just....couldn't.
Maybe once I tell him how tainted I am, he will take a step back from pursuing me.
But can I handle it?
After all his revelations. Can I stay away from him?
Can I live with not being able to see him and look him in the eye like my past actually didn't happen?
I know I have already forgiven him for everything.
His harshness and dominance comes from the impact left on him due to his own dark past.
Where as I..... I am nothing but a shallow person who is missing pieces in her heart where it was ripped apart from within me when my innocence and my bravery were taken away from me, leaving me submissive and scared.

Will I ever be brave enough to tell him about me?

"As long as I am alive. Nothing will happen to you or Timothy. Hell, even if I am dead I will make sure you both stay as invincible as you both are now." Rage promised.
"Don't talk about your death so lightly." I said looking away from him feeling a bitterness take over in my barely there heart.
He takes my chin and makes me face him again.

"Have you ever loved someone so much.... so much that they made you feel alive again when you have already died?" He asks me. My face scrunches up in confusion, making him chuckle. His fingers smoothen my frown lines, leaving a trail of fire behind.
"I died a long time ago, Scar." He explains making me frown again.
"But I am alive again." He whispers on my face.
"You know why?" He asks. I shake my head in a 'no'
"I found you. You took my dead heart in between your hands and you replaced it with yours." He smiled.
How I wish he knew what a broken soulless heart he was talking about.
If he only knew. He wouldn't be talking about it so fondly.
He is replacing his darkness with my oblivion.
"Who said I have a heart?" I asked him, smiling sadly as I touched his jaw with my fingers.
He moves his face and his lips kiss my fingers.

"Those as forgiving as you.....Scar. They definitely do have a heart."
I only forgive because I do not want to live in my past.

"Sir." Martin shows up behind me so we face him while Rage scowled.
"Your presence is required at the tunnel."
Whatever Martin said, left Rage stiff against me.
"Watch over her." He barked and without a word he left not even acknowledging or giving me a second glance.
He was gone like the wind.
"Where did he go?" I asked Martin as he sat beside me on the staircase.
"Business." He vaguely said. I frowned at him.
"Why don't you enjoy the festival. These people are here for you. Do not worry your pretty little mind over silly little things." He chuckles ruffling my hair, fondly.
