Chapter 13 - Playing Around

Harmony POV

I woke the next morning completely dreading going to school, nothing in me wanted to move. I had restless sleep last night as thoughts of Carson kept me up. My mood swings on the situation weren't doing anything but giving my head whiplash. I would be hurt because of his actions, then smile over our kiss, only to end up being pissed off at myself and him all over again. UGHH I let out a groan and slid out of the bed.

Fifteen minutes later I stopped to look at my refection, my hair hung loosely under my knitted hat, my grey sweater fit snugly and matched my scarf that wrapped around my neck topped off with my winter boots that came up to my knees. I looked like.. well like someone who had their world ripped out of their grasp not only once but twice. I felt tears sting my eyes and took a deep breath pushing them back.

Quickly I made my way down stairs to grab a snack bar for breakfast and a cup of coffee. I sat there for a moment, almost completely talking myself into skipping school for the day when a knock on the door had me jumping off my chair. I glanced around, Sue was already gone, who could it be? Slowly I made my way to the door and stopped when I seen MIke smiling down at me on the other side of our screen door.

He had a shadow of hair across his strong jaw line, making me realize he has spent the past 13 -14 hours outside my house. I felt bad, but I didnt ask him to stay. Even last night when i woke up to use the bathroom, I had glanced out my window and seen him laying in the snow. I couldnt help but smile at him. "You going to let me in, or freeze to death in the snow?" I knew better then him actually freezing but I moved and let him in anyways. "Yeah, what are you doing here?"

He looked at me like I had something on my face, or I had said something out of my mind. "Harmony, I have been here, look I just came to see if you wanted a ride to school?" I laughed at his expression and thought over his offer. "Uhm, sure, I normally walk though, I like the time to clear my head." He grinned an award winning grin that I knew had won him many girls, "thats fine, I will walk with you then." I almost laughed at his words, "Mike your truck is outside, why on earth would you walk?" It was his turn to laugh at my facial expression, "maybe I just want to walk to clear my head?"

I gave him a glare to let him know I didnt believe him and he put his hands up in "im not hiding nothing" way. I still didnt believe him but I nodded and we were soon walking out the door. As we walked in silent it was strangely comforting. I began to let my mind wonder over yesterdays events, I wonder how Carson will act today? Its clear we both know we are mates but he dont seem to thrilled at the thought. I felt my face dropping and a frown covered my lips. What am I going to do?

MIke POV

I walked beside Harmony towards school. It somehow felt familiar again, just being around her. I shook the thought off when I seen her face tighten in thought before a frown covered her face. My heart slumped, I cant let her go to school in this mood, shes already defeated and we arent but 100 yards from her house. I stopped walking and she didnt notice, quickly I scooped up snow and shaped it into a ball. Making aim and sure I didnt throw it to hard I launched it at her back. I couldnt help but burst into laughter when her body stilled and I heard a growl errupt from her. She spun and stared at me only making me laugh harder.

She was cute when she was mad, not scary at all. Almost like a pissed off puppy. The thought made me laugh harder. "What. Are. You. Laughing. At?" She snaped out each word as she stared at me, though she sounded mad I seen her fighting to keep a smile off her face. I bent over and made another snow ball but when I went to launch it at her she was on me, smashing snow in my face and laughing. 'She is fast.' my wolf commented as I jumped to run after her.

Within minutes we were having a snow fight running through the feilds, I half noticed we were headed away from school but I didnt care. She was laughing and having fun, and her laughter made me smile. "You cant catch me!" She taunted as she ran down the hill, moving with my speed I jumped and landed on her sending us rolling down the hill covered in snow.

When we stopped we laid there attempting to catch our breath, her laughter shot shivers through me and I tried to remeber why it made me feel like I had heard it before. I laid there in the snow as she stood up and dusted herself off, she looked down at me and grinned before sticking her tounge out at me. "You dont play fair Mike!"

Running down the stairs and around the couch, I was chasing the red haired girl. Tired of the games and wanting the controler to the game back I jumped across the couch and caught her. She stood and looke at me through her bright blue eyes, "You dont play fair MIke.".....

"MIKE.. Hello!?" Her voice snapped me out of my thoughts or memories, I am still unsure what they are. "Yeah, sorry, i uhm, I.." I stopped when she hurled another snow ball at me and laughed taken off running again. I seen her shift as she reached the tree line and laughed at her. "who dont play fair now Harmony." I asked to myself as I jumped and shifted to chase after her.

Harmony POV

I heard Mike catching up to me, I dont know why but being with him makes me feel at ease, almost a peacful feeling. I laughed to myself when I heard him let out a playful growl as he got closer. I ran faster trying to put space between us, with no luck. I felt his hot breath and heard his breathing as he came up behind me. I laughed as he playfully nipped my legs trying to trip me. Why can't my mate be like this?

Carson POV

I watched them from a distance, anger and jealousy swelled in me. She was my mate, she shouldnt be like that with anyone but me. I wanted to growl but stopped when hands ran over my chest, "Carson, what are you looking at?" I looked down at the blonde who had occupied my time and my mind since yesterday. She hadnt asked me to many questions when I spun the car around and headed back down the road after spotting Harmony and Mike rolling in the snow like two love sick pups. I think she didnt notice, she was to occupied it keeping her hands on my body.

My wolf wasnt exactly happy about my actions, but it kept me from doing something I would regret. I looked back towards the trees the two wolves had dissapeared into before I looked back down at the girl beside me. I bent and kissed her hard, demanding and angery. She didnt back down but met me with as much force, I had to get Harmony off my mind, or I was going to loose it. Looks like its time for another distraction, I said inwardly as I gripped her and pulled her crashing aginst my body.
