When Beethoven passed away, he was buried in a churchyard. A couple of days later, a man heard a strange noise coming from where Beethoven was buried. Terrified, he ran and got the priest to listen to it. The priest bent close to the grave and listened.
After a moment, he said, "Ah, yes, that's Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, playing backwards."
He listened a while longer and said, "There's the Eighth Symphony, and it's backwards, too. Most puzzling." So the priest kept listening. "There's the Seventh... the Sixth... Fifth..."
Suddenly he realized what was happening and stood up, announcing to the crowd that had gathered in the cemetery: "There's nothing to worry about. It's just Beethoven decomposing."
