"Raya!"
A familiar voice shouts and I turn and smile as James tackles me into a hug.
"Hey! How was daycare, James?"
I ask as Tyson, Jaecee and Avery walk into the diner.
"It was good, I got to hang out with Avery all day."
He murmurs quietly so that no one else can hear him and I smile trying not to laugh.
Awe...
"That's good."
Jaecee takes a seat in the chair across from me before smiling brightly.
"Hey guys!"
Tyson takes a seat next to her before wrapping his arm around her shoulders.
"I'm surprised you haven't punched him yet."
Jo remarks when she notices Tyson's arm around Jaecee's shoulders.
"Eh, I give up. Tyson's been doing it all day so I've decided to just-"
"Go out with me."
Tyson interrupts with a wink causing Jaecee to elbow him in the gut.
"Ignore him."
Jaecee mutters as she leans back and crosses her arms over her chest.
"Jaecee..."
Tyson whines before leaning forward to whisper something in her ear. Within seconds her face is flushed a bright red.
I don't even want to know....
"Hey, honey."
I glance over to see Mrs. Jean talking with Jo while Nathan watches her with wide eyes.
Nathan is probably scared of Mrs. Jean after what she said to Liam earlier...
"Would you-oh! Who are your friends?"
Mrs. Jean asks as her gaze sweeps over each of us sitting at the table. Mrs. Jean glares at Nathan when she takes note of how close they're sitting causing him to visibly pale.
"This is Jaecee, her little sister Avery, Tyson, Justin and Nathan."
Jo introduces causing Mrs. Jean to focus all of her attention on Nathan.
"I would appreciate it if you weren't sitting so close to my daughter, Nathan."
Mrs. Jean remarks causing Nathan to basically leap to the other side of the booth.
...jeez...
"Thank you, I'll be right back okay, hon?"
Mrs. Jean says to Jo who nods in understanding.
"Okay."
The second that Mrs. Jean disappears from sight, Jo turns her attention to Nathan.
"Are you scared of my mother?"
Jo asks as her blue eyes light up with amusement.
"I...maybe..."
He mumbles causing the rest of us to laugh.
"Hey, you guys didn't hear what she said to that costumer!"
Nathan exclaims as his gaze shifts between Tyson and Jaecee.
"What did she say?"
Jaecee asks in curiousity as her eyes lock on his.
"Mrs. Jean said that she would-"
"Nathan! There are kids!"
I scold causing him to frown as he leans against Jo for comfort.
Jo's eyes narrow and her face flushes pink as she looks down at him in confusion.
"What do you think you're doing?"
Jo demands as she gently tugs at his hair.
"Sleeping away my misery..."
Nathan mutters causing Jo to roll her eyes.
"Nathan!"
A familiar voice yells, laced with anger.
I glance over to see Mrs. Jean glaring at Nathan as she marches over in our ditection.
Uh oh...
Nathan scrambles to his feet before bolting straight into the men's bathroom.
"Johanna Grace Jean!"
Mrs. Jean yells causing Jo to raise her hands in surrender.
"I didn't do anything."
She states, her tone defensive even though her face flushes red.
"If I hear that you-"
"Momma!"
Jo inturrups as her face flushes red from embarrassment.
"Fine, we'll talk about this tonight at dinner."
Mrs. Jean remarks before turning and making her way back into the kitchen.
Well, this is awkward...
"That sounds unpleasant."
Jo mutters in disapproval as her shoulders slump in defeat.
"Well, you have fun."
"Sis, what are they talking about?"
James asks innocently as he looks up at me with his gray eyes.
"Um..."
I hesitate as I glance at Jo before turning my attention back James.
"You'll find out when you're thirty."
I state in determination.
He needs to stay young for as long as possible...
"Do you know what they were talking about?"
James asks as he raises an eyebrow.
"Yes-I mean no! Maybe? You're not finding out until you're at least thirty."
James shrugs before continuing drawing with Avery.
"Thirty?"
Justin asks under his breath as he leans towards me.
"Yes, thirty. Do you have a problem with that?"
I ask as my eyes instantly narrow.
He better not be questioning me...
"No, you're just acting rather..."
Justin trails off as if unable to say the words.
"Rather what?"
I ask raising an eyebrow as I meet his peircing gaze.
"A guardian or a motherly figure."
Justin shrugs causing me to frown as I glance away.
My gaze lands on Nathan as he peeks his head out from behind the door to the men's bathroom before letting his gaze sweep across the room in search of danger.
How childish...
Nathan hesitates before slowly making his way over to our table. However, he stands awkwardly to the side as Mrs. Jean glares at him from behind the counter.
Come on Nathan, just sit down...
"Nathan, you can sit, I don't bite."
Jo remarks gesturing to the seat beside her.
She doesn't know that her mom is watching...
"No, but your mother might."
Nathan mutters as he shifts uncomfortably.
No, I think she will...
Might means you have a chance of survival and Nathan, you do not have a chance around her.
I let a small smile pull at my lips before turning my attention to James.
"Hey, James? Are you ready to go?"
I ask and he nods before getting to his feet.
"Hey, thanks again for picking up James from the daycare, Jaecee."
I state causing her to smile.
"No problem."
I give a small wave goodbye to the others before James and I make our way towards the door.
"Where's your motorcycle?"
James asks glancing around and I frown.
Crap!
"I'll go get it in the morning, okay?"
I ask and James nods.
"Okay."
The sound of running footsteps fills my ears causing my muscles to tense.
"Raya!"
A familiar voice shouts and I glance over my shoulder to see Justin running in our direction.
"What is it?"
  "Do you need a ride?"
He asks brushing his hair back from his face.
"Oh, no-"
"It's supposed to rain again and you don't want James to catch a cold, do you?"
"I-"
"Accept! Good, let's go!"
Justin states as he grabs hold of my hand before pulling me towards his silver dodge truck.
"At least you have a good taste in vehicles."
I remark causing him to smirk.
"You think so?"
He asks and I shrug.
"I like motorcycles better, though."
I state as I hop into the passenger seat as James sits in the back.
"So, where to?"
Justin asks as he shifts his peircing gaze towards me.
I give him my address before glancing at the radio.
"Is it okay if I turn up the volume?"
I ask barely able to hear the music.
"Sure."
Justin agrees and I smile before reaching over and turning the volume up as Battle Scars by Guy Sebastian.
I begin to sing along with the music as it plays loudly through the speakers.
"-I wish I never looked, I wish I never touched. I wish that I could stop loving you so much, cause I'm the only one that's trying to keep us together. When all of the signs say that I should forget her.
I wish you weren't the best, the best I ever had. I wish that the good outweighed the bad. Cause it'll never be over, until you tell me it's over-what?"
I ask seeing Justin staring at me rather then the road ahead.
"So, my mystery girl is a singer."
Justin murmurs quietly and I raise an eyebrow in confusion.
"Your mystery girl?"
"Well, I don't know much about you, so yeah."
Justin shrugs as he turns his attention back to the road ahead.
"Well, I don't know anything about you either."
I remark causing a smirk to pull at his lips.
"We're going to have to fix that."
