"The sky is immense." She paused, gathering her thoughts. He waited patiently for her to continue. "Think of the ground," she said. "For all the ground, above us there is the sky. In the daytime, it's usually clear and blue. The sun is up there too, shining down. The sky goes up and up and up..."

She stopped again, making a little frustrated noise. "It's hard to describe the sky, because it's so intangible." 

"And color is tangible?"

"No..." she admitted, laughing. "I guess I just need to think of the right thing." She paused. Eventually, she went on. "The sky goes up and up and up. Past the atmosphere part and then...space. It's all a space up there, above us down here. Clouds, which are fluffy like cotton candy or cotton balls, are in the sky on a lot of days. There's different types...Storm clouds, of course, mean it's going to rain.

"At night, the sky is pitch black, velvet and dark. And then, gradually, one by one, the stars appear like little pinpricks of light..." She stopped. "I'm sorry," she said. "I'm really butchering this aren't I?"

He shook his head. "No. It's fine. You're doing great."
