Chapter One Hundred & Fourty

Elijah later received a text from Marcel, which said that he had gotten some insider info. He was going to wait until Klaus got there to tell us all what it meant, and when he finally did, I was the first to meet him at the entrance. He was with Cami, too.

"Cami!" I called out, running up to meet them. I noticed the cut above her forehead, which was still bleeding. "Oh, god. Do you want me to heal you?"

I almost glared at Klaus for not doing it already, but then Cami insisted that she was fine and it would heal on its own. She headed towards a bathroom so that she could clean it, and I didn't miss the way that Klaus' eyes followed her as she left.

"I'm glad that she's all right," I said, smiling softly at him.

He nodded slowly, letting out a soft sigh of relief before finally looking back at me. He had stared at the spot she had disappeared from his sight for a few seconds before he turned away.

"I am as well," he smiled a little. But I could see the worried look in his eyes, and the way that his fingers rubbed together ever so slightly. It was something that he did when he was irritated, and angry.

"I know that there is something else, Nik. I'm your best friend, remember?"

His smile slowly faded, and he nodded a little before finally admitting it. "I nearly killed Aurora tonight."

"Because of what she's done?"

"Not just in general, Rose... Because of what she nearly did to Camille."

I nodded to him. "In all honesty, I don't think that anyone but Lucien and Tristan would blame you if you had."

I couldn't help but smile again, which appeared to be contagious, because he was soon chuckling and smiling as well.

"What on earth is making you so happy?" he asked, still laughing a little.

"I don't often see you really care about someone other than your family," I told him, still smiling a little. "It's nice."

He continued to smile a little, almost looking like the poor guy was about to blush.

"And what of Aurora?" I asked him, changing the subject. "I assume that you didn't just let her go? Surely you got something from her."

"It has been made clear that she no longer matters to me..." he said, his eyebrows raising in that usual mischievous look of his.

I couldn't help but smirk a little. "There's something else, isn't there?"

He grinned, and put his hand into his pocket. He pulled out a small napkin, which had something written on it with black pen. My eyes widened with delight when I saw what it was.

"You got her to tell you the coordinate?" I exclaimed, smiling.

"Well, not exactly..." he hummed. "More specifically, I went into her mind and took it by force."
