maya awoke to the sound of her phone rapidly buzzing on the bedside table.
she groaned in annoyance, rubbing her eyes in an attempt to wake herself up. all the blonde wanted to do at the moment was curl up in the warm comforter and fall back asleep, but she was unable to because of whoever insisted on texting her at such an early hour.
she hesitantly reached her arm out and grabbed her phone, prepared to give whoever was texting her a piece of her mind. her phone continued to buzz in her hand as new messages popped up every second, not even giving her a chance to read each individual one. she groaned in annoyance as she swiped her thumb across the screen, unlocking the phone to see 116 message notifications.
did someone die or something?
she opened up the chat with the person who texted her the most recently, which happened to be riley, and read through some of the messages
riles: i don't know where you are, peaches, but please text me when you get this
riles: we're worried about you
riles: sorry again about what happened between you and bradley
riles: if you want to talk, just know that i'll always be here for you
riles: love you, peaches
suddenly, memories of the night before flooded maya's memories. her kiss with lucas, bradley finding her hickey and breaking up with her, watching a movie with lucas, being carried to bed by lucas, and the thunderstorm.
but wait..
if her and lucas were together last night when the storm hit, that must mean...
maya turned her body just the slightest bit to the center of the bed, and came face to face with lucas, whose head was still buried in her neck as he slept, his arms holding her against his body.
she couldn't help but gasp, seeing as this was the first time she had ever actually slept in the same bed as a boy. even with her and bradley, she only ever cuddled with him on the couch and then left before she fell asleep.
she must've been so emotionally worn out from the breakup to even think about that at any point throughout her night of restlessness.
she attempted to wriggle out of his grip, but it was no use, as she was no match for him and his strength.
"stay for a few more minutes," lucas's voice spoke for the first time that morning, and his voice definitely showed that. maya froze at the sound of his smooth yet raspy voice ringing through her ears, and she almost squealed when his grip on her waist tightened and he pulled her closer. so close, in fact, that her face was only inches away from his, and their bodies were pressed together.
however, instead of staring into each other's eyes, maya was faced with lucas's closed eyes, and she couldn't help but smile at the sight.
"take a picture, it'll last longer," lucas told the blonde when he felt her gaze linger on his face. he opened his eyes to see her blushing like crazy, and he couldn't help but grin at the fact that he could still make her blush. he had always had to assume that she was blushing when they texted or talked on the phone, but now that he was seeing it in person, the image would forever be imbedded in his mind.
