You spent the remainder of the day with Newt, telling your sister about the many beasts in the case. You found it odd that Newt took to Poppy so well. It had taken you years not to want to strangle the girl, and yet Newt treated her as though she was of royal lineage.

Newt often stole glaces at you, as you moved about and introduced yourself to the many creatures.

"So you still have Pickett, don't you?" Newt finally asked. He hadn't said anything since breakfast and it made you feel uneasy.

"I'm not sure?" You said.

"I have him!" Poppy said as she headed over.

"Wait? What? How? I haven't seen him in days." You said to the girl.

"You had him this whole time?" Newt asked.

With a smile Poppy continued on her way and left you with Newt, alone. The girl had it out for you. You knew she only wanted you to be happy but she did a good job at making you as miserable as possible.

"So where do you think we should investigate next?" You asked him.

"We can take a look at a location in Birmingham. There was some recent events there." Newt said.

"Alright. So, are we going to look there tomorrow?" You asked.

"I suppose. There is a beast fighting event coming up in about two weeks. We should have at least something to put in our reports by then." Newt said with a shrug.

"So we have two weeks to find out what is causing these disturbances?" You replied.

"Pretty much. Well if we want to apprehend the culprit. That is if they are a member of this league." Newt said.

"Not to mention the Scholar cultists are bound to turn up again." You said.

"I could try to infiltrate there group. By the looks all I need is those rings and a black cloak. I think I'm pale enough as it is." Newt said with a chuckle.

That didn't give you much time. Not to mention that Newt would most likely try to gain information about the cultists, whether you liked it or not. Newt's heart was in the right place but he didn't really think things through as much as you would. If anything Newt seemed stuborn, and if not a little too optimistic. He had a heart of gold like many Hufflepuff students and it was a strength and a weakness.

"So we have a fortnight to get all the information we need, and yet you plan to disappear on an under cover mission?" You asked the man.

"I have a bad feeling they might have something to do with all of this." Newt said as he walked along the dirt path.

"You don't think it might an Obscurial or something, along with the creatures that got loose?" You replied, as you trailed along beside him.

"No. I think that they only let out the creatures that lost there matches, and that are as good as dead to their owners." Newt said as slight furry instantly overtook him.

"That's terrible." You muttered.

"It is, that's why I need to save these beasts." Newt said.

"Newt, that's a lot to ask of one person." You said with worry in your voice.

"I might be one person, but I have you. And I'm sure Poppy would be more than happy to help." Newt said with a slight apologetic smile.

"Merlin's beard, Newt." You huffed.

"I know you have work and your own life, but I can't do this alone." Newt said with an innocent pout. He was almost as bad as Poppy.

"I know you need my help, and I'm happy to comply but..." you replied.

"But what?" He asked.

I can't get attached to you. You thought.

"You think I'm going to just abandon you or something, don't you?" He said as his voice rose slightly.

"I actually do." You replied. There was no point in denying it.

"Well I'm not." Newt said in such an even tone that it almost rang in your ears.

You hoped he meant what he said. You lived to know you could rely on someone your own age. You had only Poppy by your side for years. It would be a nice change to have someone. Especially if that someone just so happened, to be none other than Newt Scamander.
