As you sat at your desk still feeling sick you heard a tap at the office door. You had been sitting at your desk for only a few minutes and you didn't think Shelly could have come back so soon.

"So this is the big hot shot's office." A male voice said from the door way.

Looking up your eyes locked on a tall man dressed in a black casual suit. His short blond hair combed up and to the side. His chilling green eyes crinkled slightly as he smiled brightly, yet smugly at you.

"And you are?" You asked.

"Lake? Lake Cedar Tyrrell? Don't tell me you don't remember me!" The man said with a laugh.

"Lake?" You asked. It didn't sound familiar in any way other than his surname.

"We were friends back at school? I was the Gryffindor quidditch captain. You tutored me with my O.W.L.S?" The man said as he moved off the doorway where he leaned casually.

"Tyrrell? I think I remember that name at least." You admitted.

"You had the biggest crush on me during fourth year? You asked me out in fifth year? Then we became friends in sixth year?" He suggested, as he moved toward the large bookshelf and began to inspect the many volumes it contained.

A slight cringe rattled down you as you remembered the embarrassment that was your teen years. Fortunately you only vaguely remembered all of the things that you did, thank Merlin.

"I'm an Auror now. In the U.S. Surprisingly enough, I got at decent job." Lake said with another smile. He had lost most of his accent over time so he sounded mostly American now.

"No help from me for getting you passing grades." You joked as you thought of the countless hours spent with the boy at the time.

"Don't be like that!" He joked with a laugh.

"You're tall now. I can't believe it and you look so much older." You admired.

"So you work for the Ministry. How am I not surprised? Only thing is that you should be running the place." He said as he avoided your statement.

"Tyrrell. I really don't think right now is a good time to chat." An unfamiliar female voice said from the hall.

"Really Goldstein? I can't even talk to an old friend during work hours?" Lake asked.

"We have plenty of work and so does she. You can reminisce the the old days later. When your not on the clock" The woman said.

"I'm sorry for asking this but are you by any chance Porpentina Goldstein?" You asked the woman, it must be her after all.

"Yes actually I am. An Auror." She replied.

"And I'm a dragon care specialist. I think she can put to and two together. She's pretty bright." Lake said with an eye roll.

He hadn't changed much after all this time. Still sarcastic and and a bit cocky. Not to mention that he had grown out of his awkward teenage state to be a  tall, well built, handsome man.

"So you must know Newt Scamander?" You said before you could stop it rolling off your lips. You mentally kicked yourself. As if it wasn't bad enough you had to make things worse.

"You got a boyfriend after all this time? Great job!" Lake said, with his usual condescending smile but his voice was polluted with malice.

"A better question would be how you know him?" The woman asked as her eyebrows furrowed and her eyes gleamed for a split second.

"I met him in a book store. We just sort of hit it off." You lied.

"Really? He didn't come across to me like much of a  reader." The woman pondered.

"Yeah, well I should get back to work." You said, as you saw Shelly standing out in the hallway outside your office.

"Us as well." Goldstein replied.

"Go on without me. Just dock my pay or something if it bothers you." Lake said as he looked to the woman. They must have been of equal rank to be able to speak to her like that.

"Lake-" you began.

"That's agent Tyrrell." You heard Tina mutter as she left the room and nodded to Shelly as she passed the stoic, yet motherly older woman.

She already didn't like you, how great! Shelly sat the tray by the door then went on her way with a nod.

"So how has life been? It's been way too long since I've seen you." Lake said.

"Yeah it's been what? Three maybe four years?" You replied as your eyes lingered on the man before you.

"It's been six years. I was 18 when I graduated and I'm 24 now." He said as he flipped through a few of the books.

"I didn't think it had been that long." You said with a sigh.

"Well it has and I didn't get a single owl. You have no idea how depressing that is." Lake said with a laugh.

"What to not get any post?" You asked him.

"Not from you. And to think we were best friends" He said with a accusing look.

"I don't remember ever really having a best friend." You replied.

"Well I considered you as my best friend by the end of school." He said with a shrug.

"Is that so?" You said with a chuckle.

"Yeah it is. So would you like to go for a drink later?" He asked.

"A drink? With you? Like after work?" You replied.

"Yeah, well unless you have plans with Scamander." Lake said out of spite.

"You knew him didn't you? Back at Hogwarts?" You asked the man.

"Yeah, I used to picked on him before he got expelled. He was really weird back then." Lake said.

Oh no, you had enough as it was. You didn't need bad blood between the two men. You didn't need more drama on top on what was already going on.

"So are you dating Scamander? Because from what I've heard him and agent Goldstein have a thing." Lake said as he walked over to the door.

"Having a thing dosn't mean anything. He's not interested in her anymore." You spat.

"Sounds a little desperate to me. So want to talk about it over some scotch?" Lake said with a smile.

"I might as well. You're not going to stop asking until I do." You said

"Okay great! After work I'll meet you here. There's no point in getting dolled up, because it's not a date." Lake said as he walked out of your office.
