"The scars of my past will build the kingdom to my future."

The house looked exactly as it did all those years ago. Overwhelmingly large, layered, and surrounded by tall, thick palm trees that swayed in the wind. To an outsider, it appeared to be the typical mansion you would see in magazines, but I was no outsider. I knew the secrets hidden behind all those white walls. And now I was here to expose even more.

While slowly driving forward down the long, paved driveway I went ahead and activated my earrings like Oliver had taught me. As expected it vibrated once letting me know it was on and ready. Immediately I felt a small sense of relief. Gage could hear me now. He wasn't with me physically, but this would be enough. It had to be enough.

"Alright everyone," I let out a soft sigh as I approached the front of the house. "Let's do this."

Mr. Curtis was standing outside the front doors before I even pulled the car up. It has been eight years since I last saw the older man, but, unsurprisingly, he still wore his typical formal attire. In all my years at this place, I never saw him in anything less than a suit. When I was a little girl I used to pretend that he was always dressed up because he wanted to impress Ms. Katherine, but as I grew older I realized this was just his character. He liked everything to be neat, fancy, and clean. Especially clothes.

"Clothing is a reflection of your soul," he once told me as he tossed out my ripped-up jeans much to my dismay. "So always dress appropriately."

It was because of him I learned proper manners which I never thanked him for. But perhaps I could use tonight to my benefit by letting him know.

The second I parked my car I reached out to open my door but Mr. Curtis was already there. I should have expected it, but it has been so long since I've been in this sort of proper environment that I jumped at his action. I had every intention of apologizing to him for being so startled but the words were caught in my throat when I looked up to see the older man staring down at me.
