My feet barely touched the ground my speed accelerated, this was it, Antonio told me that this man right here on my list, WAS the fox, he led me right to him. I needed him, I needed to know how to get by on my own, whatever it took, if it took stealing, bribery, and fighting, then so be it.
I slowed my steps as my body began to tire. As I gathered myself on a nearby bridge, I stared into the crystal waters of Venice, I stared until all I could see was my own reflection as the water drifted underneath the bridge. my hands gripped the sides of the short bridge as everyone walked past and chit chatted about nothing important, the pitter patter of feet hitting the stone beneath us; I listened in closely as one of the heralds shouted nearby, something about a church gathering next week of some sort; I grinned in delight as I stared at the brightening moon in the purple blue sky, it had just hit dusk; I didn't wanna wait until tomorrow to find the man, but I knew I had to wait.
I turned around vigorously and began to laugh maniacally, I finally had his name in the palm of my hands, my hands took from my grip upon the bridge I turned around laughing; my hair fluttered in the air for a brief second when my body suddenly rushed to a new position; as I began to laugh, it fluttered to my shoulders some of it fell onto my face and in front of my eyes.
my hands flew to my cheeks as I was flustered, giggling, and attracting too much attention, I needed to turn in for the evening; I was clearly exhausted and my hand was definitely going to hurt in the morning. I giggle one last time before turning towards the open path into the better part of Venice, I knew if I turned around and went back to my place, I would have to walk all the way back here, or Luca and Marco would be there waiting for me again.. I wasn't ready to deal with them, my hand didn't have much more strength to fight them; why would I even consider trying? Maybe it was the lingering adrenaline from this afternoon. Whatever it was, I felt invincible.
I wandered the streets until I was too worn to even search for a cheaper inn, so I decided to just stop at the next one I came across, but of course, it was one of the most expensive, and the more costly rooms were the only ones available.
"Give me whatever you have." I told the lady at the desk.
My fingers tapped on the surface after she had turned around to see the keys she had left for the rooms, I noticed there was only a few, she turned to me,
"All we have left is the romance suite Madonna, it's going to cost you, and from the looks of it, you don't have much on you." She doubted me, her eyes traveled my body up and down as she pressed her hands firmly upon her waist; clearly sassing me.
"Depends on how much, would you please not doubt me, I'm too tired to try and verbally fight you miss." I informed her; the back of my hand hit the table waiting for an answer and a key, though I winced in pain at the contact of my bruising knuckles hitting the hard surface, I held my ground.
"1,040 florins a night, think you can afford it, putanna?" She tilted her head and smirked, and with an evil look she handed me the key, and I handed her a pouch of money.
"Is that enough?" I smirked as well; I stepped aside twirling the key in hand, when I got further away from her I heard her grunt in annoyance.
I giggled,
how naive.
