Me and Mary go to her house after school, I almost didn't want to go to her house because of her dead grandma but if I can be okay with Luke then I should give other ghosts a chance.

As soon as we walk into her room I sit on her bed.

"Soo?" I smirk

"Well after you left I called Eli and he asked me on a date" she smiles blushing a little

"That's great" I tell her

"Thank you"

"For what?" I ask confused

"Well you're the reason we are going on a date and because your not mad about me and him getting together"

"You guys are cute together" I tell her

"Now we need to find you someone" she smirks

"I'm okay" I laugh nervously

"Do you already have a guy in your life?" She says

"Uh" I say nervously

"You do" she squeals "tell me about him"

"Uh I'm mean we are just friends" I look away

"But you would like to be more?" She raises an eyebrow

"It's complicated" I sigh

"Well I'm here when you want to talk about it" she tells me

"Thanks" I tell her

We continue talking about boys and school for an hour.

"I better go it's getting late" I say

"Okay thanks again" she says standing up

"I can let myself out. I'll see you at school" I say

I walk downstairs to the living room, I see Mary's grandma in the chair

"You have a gift" she says

"I've notice" I say to her

"Come sit child" she tells me

I look at the door and back at her and then nod.

I sit on the couch keeping some distance.

"Were you born with this gift?" She asks me

"No not that I know of" I tell her

"Am I the first ghost you've ever seen?"

"No. I have a ghost that lives in my new house"

"The one on cane street?" She asks me probably overhearing someone talk about it

"Yes ma'am" I nod

"It's such a shame what happened there" she shakes her head

"What happened?" I ask her

"That not for me to tell you dear" she says

"Do you know why ghosts sticks around?" I ask her

"Yes because we can't move on" she says sadly

"What happens when you can't move on?"

"Well when you don't go into the light in time you start to become crazier as the years go on. It starts to get to you. I mean for the first couple of years is fine but then slowly you become." She says

"Become what?" I ask nervously

"You know those horror films where there's a evil spirits in the house" she says not knowing how to say it

I can't imagine Luke becoming that.

"What can you do to help them move on" I say

"Help them find peace" she tells me

"How can I do that?"

"They will know" she nods

"Why can't you find peace?" I asks hoping I'm not intruding

"My daughter in law, Mary's mother. We used to fight all the time I see now it was my fault but he was my only son and I was so protective over him I thought nobody was good enough. When I got sick she took care of me I then notice what a strong and kind woman she was, the perfect one for my son. I died before I got to tell her that." She says sadly

"W-would you like me to help you?" I ask

She looks at me hopeful.

"I would but I will understand if you don't want to. This gift you were given you need to make a choice embrace it or run from it the choice is only yours"

"The boy who lives in my house" I start saying "I don't want him to leave me" I can feel tear forming in my eyes

"I know dear" she gives me a small smile "but he has already, he died a long time ago and he will be here long after your gone if you don't help him. Do you love him enough to do what's best for him"

I nod trying not cry.

"How do I help you?" I ask her

"Only you know" she shrugs

I get up and go walk over to the desk and grab a piece of paper and a pen.

"Here. Write a letter to her" I tell her

She grabs the pen and starts writing, I can tell she's trying not to cry.

"Okay here" she hands me the paper

She stands up and hugs me "thank you child"

I hug her back "your welcome"

I see Mary's mom walk in.

"Hello Jess I didn't know you were still here" she smiles

"Yeah I'm was about to leave" I tell her

She come and sits on the couch.

"How's school?" She asks

"Great" I say

I sit on the chair, I notice she stops smiling.

"Is everything okay?" I ask

"It's nothing that was my husbands mothers chair and nobody has sat in it since she's died" she say shaking her head

"O I'm sorry" I say standing up "what's this?"

I grab the piece of paper, acting like it was in the chair.

I hand her the paper.

"Let me see" she says

She starts reading it, she covers her mouth with her hand and I can tell she's holding back tears.

"Are you okay?" I ask her

"How did I not notice a letter in the chair" she shakes her head " it's a letter from my mother in law"

"O?"

"I always thought she hated me but but" she shakes her head "she says that I was the perfect girl for her son that she is proud to call me her daughter and thankful that I gave her a wonderful grandchild like Mary and how sorry she is for how she treated me for all those years. That I'm a strong and kind warm hearted person to have put up with her. Take care of my son and granddaughter and I will see you all again one day. I love you all" Mary mom says bawling her eyes out

I give her a hug.

"Thank you" she whispers " I need to call my husband

She walks out of the room.

I look at Mary's grandmother who's smiling.

"Thank you" she tells me

"What happens now?" I ask her

"I'm going to move on" she says

"do you want me to stay with you?"

"No go home to him and cherish the time you have left" she smiles

I walk to the door and open it, I give her one last smile.
