KAYLE

"Congratulations to the both of you," bati ni tita Carol sa amin.

"Thank you po tita," sabi ko.

Naglakad kami papasok sa school gym.

Isang buwan na rin ang lumipas at closing exercises na ngayon.

"One more year, doll. One more year 'til we separate ways," hinigpitan niya ang hawak sa kamay ko habang umupo kami sa upuang nasa harapan.

"Separate ways? We'll go to same school, right?" kunot-noo kong tanong.

"Yes but we have different courses," malungkot niyang sabi.

I smiled. "Okay lang 'yon. We'll make time."

Isa-isa namang nagdatingan ang mga kaibigan namin. Wade, Tristan, then Logan.

"Bro!" tawag nila sa isa't isa at nag-fist bump.

Umupo sila sa tabi namin at dumating na rin si Cielo. Hindi nagtagal, dumating na rin si Mia, kasama si Jax.

"Hindi pa ngayon ang graduation, Jax," asar namin ni Cielo.

Paano ba naman, sinamahan niya talaga dito si Mia. Sa susunod na linggo pa graduation nila Jax eh.

Tumawa si Mia at namula naman si Jax.

"Hey, sa likod lang ako okay?" paalam niya kay Mia.

Tumango naman ito.

"Pst, Mia," tawag ko.

"Yes?" ngumit siya.

"Is Jax courting you?" I teased.

She nod gracefully and tucked her hair. "Yes."

I laughed. "I knew it."

The program commenced and all the speeches.

"...All I can say is, congratulations to each one of you, have a great day," the last words of our principal. Everyone clapped their hands.

It ended with picture-takings, of course. Then fast forward, a celebration on Cal's house in the evening. Since our friends' celebrated on their own, only both of our families were there.

"We're only few steps near to our dreams," I murmured.

He nod. "Yeah."

Nandito kami ngayon sa rooftop nila.

"The sky is beautiful tonight, isn't it?"

"It's always beautiful for you," then he laughed.

"Because it is," I ranted.

"Doll can you promise me something?"

"Ano 'yon?"

"No matter what happens, no goodbyes, okay?"

I nod. "Promise. Pero bakit mo sinasabi sa akin 'to?"

He shook his head. "I'm afraid of losing you."

"You won't."

He smiled and we went back downstairs.

Few days passed.

Pagkagising ko, nabasa ko agad ang message ni Jax na may practice daw ngayon.

Magrereply na sana ako nang biglang nag-ring ang phone ko.

"Doll? Good morning!"

"Morning rin. Ba't ka tumawag?" tanong ko at humikab.
