Edith tossed and turned in her bed before turning to look at her clock that told her it was only 1 in the morning.
"Why isn't that fucking Prozac working?" she asked herself as she pushed the sheets back and climbed out of bed.
Edith proceeded to quietly exit her bedroom and walk down the stairs into the dark kitchen where she walked to the fridge and opened it.
She adjusted to the light accordingly as she reached for a bottle of Vitamin Water; she didn't care if it had sugar in it, she just had to chug an entire bottle of something right then.
Edith enjoyed the sweet sensation that was a Fruit Punch flavored drink, not taking a break from chugging the entire thing down; she did finally take a break as she made her way to the bottom of the bottle, taking in one deep breathe to relax herself.
She finished the bottle off and threw it in the recycle bin before she heard a noise coming from the dining room.
Edith tensed as she listening to the noise; she felt her infamous feeling of being watched as she began to side step her way towards the stairs, still watching the darkness coming from the dining room.
She made it to the stairs, swiftly climbing them up and not caring if she woke anybody up in her paranoid moment.
Edith made it to her room and shut the door behind her, then locking it for safe measure.
"Calm down! Dad locked the doors before bed, there's no way anybody could be in this house!" Edith told herself, felling her heart accelerate as she made her way to her bed and laid down.
Edith hummed a tune to herself as she wrapped the sheets around her and closed her eyes, reminding herself that only the family was in the house as she finally felt her heart rate calm down; and her eyes somehow became heavy with relaxation.
The familiar strangers' face appeared in her dream as she screamed for her life before shooting up in her bed.
Edith took a deep breathe before realizing that it had all been a dream; she turned to her clock to find that it was only 4:15 in the morning.
"This is really stupid." She muttered to herself, climbing out of bed again and walked towards the bathroom to pee.
Edith leaned into herself as she sat in the dark, relieving herself while trying to keep herself from falling asleep on the toilet; and that's when she heard an ongoing noise.
She finished her bathroom time and pulled the door back to listen to the sound and vibrations that were coming out from outside her bedroom.
"It's probably just Casey." Edith reassured herself as she unlocked her bedroom door and opened it gently to hear the noise better.
It was the stereo downstairs, but it was all dimly lit as she managed to leave her bedroom and gently walk down the stairs where the living room light was on.
The room was empty as the record played a familiar tune; Edith looked around the room as she walked towards the record player to turn it off.
Edith watched the record needle pull away from the record as it quietly stopped spinning around and around; she looked around the room when she heard something fall and break in the kitchen.
She dropped to the floor, beginning to crawl behind a couch as she continued to listen to the noises coming from the kitchen; Edith tried to keep her breathing to herself as she heard footsteps coming from the kitchen.
"Keep moving…" Edith told herself as she began to inch away from the couch and onto the next item she could hide behind.
Edith continued to hear out for more sounds; she stopped in her tracks when she heard footsteps now coming out of the kitchen and into the living room.
The footsteps walked towards the record player and stopped, Edith heard the record player start up again before the footsteps began to walk into the kitchen.
Edith looked up over the couch and saw nobody around as she quietly picked herself up off the floor and tiptoed out of the living room and back up towards the stairs.
She quietly shut and locked the entrance to the second floor before leaning against it, letting herself begin to hyperventilate.
"Oh my god…oh my god…oh my god!" Edith managed to get out, beginning to walk the hallways in the dark as she tried to think straight.
Edith quietly walked down the hall to her parents bedroom, not even knocking on the door when she opened it up to see a trail of blood exiting the bedroom and going down the hall; no parents.
"Oh, shit." Edith whispered as she followed the trail of blood down the other hallway in the dark, trying not to step on the blood.
Edith followed the trail towards another flight of stairs when she stopped, looking down at the dark flight of stairs that lead the way to another hallway; Edith wasn't sure she could risk what was down there.
It was then she heard a creek on the floor behind her, she looked behind her in the dark as footsteps began to follow with each creek on the wood floor.
Edith wasted no time following the trail of blood down the stairs to escape the footsteps that she assumed were following her; she reached the hallway that in one direction had two extra bedrooms and another that lead into the study.
She looked back up the stairs as she tried to tell herself that she needed to keep moving forward, Edith knew that somebody was in the house but she knew she had to run until she knew who it was.
Edith walked into the study, still following the trail of blood that lead to her father's study chair that was facing the window.
"Daddy?" Edith muttered, turning on the lamp on the desk.
Edith swallowed hard as she reached across the table to push the chair around to find a gruesome sighed.
She screamed bloody murder as she saw her father, stabbed to death with his eyes missing and mouth wide open.
Edith covered her mouth as she heard footsteps above her, now stomping across the hall as they made it towards the staircase.
"Oh..." Edith cried, running towards the window and tried to open it; but it wouldn't budge.
Edith cried as she began to bang on the window, feeling a loss before she turned to her father's desk and found a paper weight laying near the lamp.
She didn't waste anytime as she grabbed the heavy item and tossed it at the window; shattering it entirely before she carefully climbed out before the footsteps reached the study.
