Eva's POV:

"Eva!" Noora ran into my room and grabbed my arm, pulling me up roughly, "Chris is awake."

"Awake?" I smiled," As in eyes open and movement??"

Noora nodded," He asked for you, and he said, 'I know it's a late answer, but yes, it is cliché.' Whatever that means."

I laughed and this time, I pulled Noora's arm, dragging her out of the house and into the car, "Drive." I placed the key in the palm of her hand.

She turned the key in the ignition and sped off.

As I sat in the car anxiously, I couldn't help but smile.

"He's awake," I sighed, almost not believing it.

-

I scurried into the hospital once again and found the room that only a week ago, I was dreading to go in.

The door was open, and his weak frame was lying in the bed.

Chris's POV:

Eva was standing in the doorway, observing the environment that I have been emerged in for a week. I smiled weakly at her, giving her a sign of comfort.

Eva returned the same smile but much brighter, considering she's not lying in a hospital bed.

"It took you long enough. You really needed to stop hogging this room." She laughed as she walked closer and sat down in the chair next to my bed, "I was beginning to think you weren't going to wake up..." Her eyes locked with mine, carrying a more serious tone.

"No, I couldn't do that without taking you on our first date," I smirked.

"Even when you're lying in a hospital bed, limited to what you can do, you still manage to fit in flirting," Eva shook her head at me.

"It's a lifestyle," I shrugged, then winced from the pain.

"You, ok?" Eva asked with concern laced into her words as she walked over to the bed and sat next to me.

"Yeah, my shoulders are just aching." I replied, ignoring the pain and focusing on Eva.

"So, this week has been-" I was cut off.

"Crazy," She sighed, looking at her fidgeting hands.

I placed my hand over hers, hoping to relieve the emotional tension the conversation carried.

She glanced at me, "Can we-"

One of my doctors walked in, "Sorry to interrupt, but he's going to need some rest if he wants to get into his own bed soon." She directed this to Eva, indicating it's best if she leaves.

"Yeah, I was just about to head out. See you soon Chris." Eva sat up and waved as she walked towards the door, not really knowing what to do in this situation.

My emotions were scrambling all around, but I chose to push them away for now. I closed my eyes, hoping to get out of this hell hole soon.

Eva's POV:

I was frustrated that I didn't get to ask Chris if we could talk, but I left the room anyway.

I sat down for a second, wondering what I'm doing with a guy that I usually wouldn't dare be involved in. Reality set in.

What is this, Eva? Another one of his flings? Since when does Chris Schistad have feelings?

I pushed all thoughts of Chris aside. Tomorrow is school, and I am going to hang out with my friends. I sat up from the sticky chair and called Noora, "Hey still at my house?"

"Yes," She replied groggily.

"Get some sleep because tomorrow night we are putting all thoughts of boys aside, and we are partying!" I spoke, hoping to mask my boy problems.

"Why are you pushing yourself away from him? You need to stop. He's changing for you, Eva." Her monotone voice spoke clearly.

"See you at home," I grumbled, ignoring her speech about Chris.

"We will talk ab-" I hung up on Noora before she could finish her sentence. I didn't want to hear it right now.

-

I unlocked the door and walked in, not feeling up to a conversation with Noora about Chris.

"Noora! I'm going to sleep!" I made my way to my room and crawled under the covers of my bed.

The door opened and a bunch of footsteps walked into my room. I groaned, hoping Noora didn't bring the rest of our Russ bus.

A cold rush of air flew up my body, causing goosebumps everywhere. I grabbed a pillow and roughly threw it to the left of me.

"Ow!" Vilde screeched.

I could see her now, rubbing whichever body part I hit her on. Even though, it's the softest object in the universe.

I turned over and took a quick peek. Noora, Chris (girl), Sana, and Vilde all stood beside my bed, waiting for me to stand up.

"Go away!" I curled into a ball, trying to find comfort with my own body heat.

"Not until we sort out your problems that you have been pushing away even before Chris' accident," Sana exclaimed. I could just imagine her crossing her arms with a grimace plastered on her face.

"There are no problems to sort out. I'm fine," I pouted, failing at getting the covers back.

"Ok, so you don't trust him that's reasonable, and you're scared his feelings aren't real. Also reasonable," Chris (girl) shrugged.

"How did you know?" I glanced at my sheets, then back at them.

"Because that's exactly how we would all feel in this situation," Noora explained.

"Trusting him is the first step to a true relationship," Vilde added.

"This is so stupid. He's recovering from a serious accident, and I'm worrying about whether he has real feelings or not," I threw my hands up, showing my frustration.

"You're going to have to wonder sometime. Just get to know him. Most of the answers you need will come from learning who he is," Sana sat next to me.

"Thanks guys, I've missed you all and this," I pulled them into a giant group hug.

"Ahhh!!!" Vilde screeched as she fell, causing a domino effect on the whole group. We all laid on top of one another, laughing in my bed. For once this week, I was enjoying myself.
