Telling Him All About It
I ran as fast as I could, going home 7 minutes early than my usual walk, literally. I went upstairs, not noticing my Dad on the living room, watching TV. I sat on my bed, and quickly dialed Jace's number.
Ninth Call – 3:28 pm
Audrey > Jace
“Hello? Jace? Hello?”
“Yeah, hello? What's the rush?”
“I just overheard a convo between Henry and his friends, they said they will beat you up--”
“Woah, woah, slow down. Beat me up?”
“After class, I saw them on a room, talking about the party, and how you beat him up in the street fight. After that, Gregory mentioned that Henry planned to beat you up at the party by kidnapping you and beating you. But there's more than that...”
“What?”
“They said that he'll decapitate you if he has too. What are you gonna do now?”
“I'm not sure, we should tell this to the police”
“Yeah, we should.”"Wait! No, we shouldn't..."
“But we know that warehouse is a drug den! They would believe--"
“They won't. We have to get proof, a real one. I can protect myself okay? I know my punches and agility to run as fast as I can.”
“Okay, good.”
“So, um...how about you? Can you protect yourself?”
“Yeah, I have my Dad here, and I know my moves, and melee weapons.”
“Ready for a Zombie Apocalypse?”
“Well, they are like Zombies that wants to eat our brains, but you know, except his people have their grudges on you...”
“I'll be ready for that. Just let me know if I can use my brass knuckles against them...”
“Why not?”
“You said I shouldn't do violence, not without your permission”
“Wow, you're really following what I said.”
“I never break a promise”
“But you didn't promise...”
“Well, I will now.”
“Sorry for yesterday Jace, like I said, I hated seeing violence because all my life, I've seen worse, even my Dad shooting a criminal hurts my eyes.”
“That's his job though.”
“Yeah, anyway, it's the first time you say sorry to anyone, that's new.”
“There's always a room for a first.”“Yeah.”
“Audrey?”
“Yep?”
“Can I be your escort at the Halloween dance?”
“Sure Jace...”
“And I have something to say. It's not the right time,or the right place, but I have something to tell you...”
“Hmm...” I hum, waiting for him to say something.
“AUDREY!”
“AH!”
-HANGS UP-
Audrey // Sheriff John Malor
“Dad?” I ask, accidentally hanging up to Jace. Why in the world?
“We need to talk--”
“About what? It's Jace isn't it?”
“I don't want that boy talking to you?”
“Why?”
“I don't want him to influence you, Drey. It for the--”
“Best? Dad, I'm in senior high already. I know what's right and what's not, although not anything, but still...”
“His father is a criminal Audrey, you should understand why I'm telling you to stop hanging out with him.”
“His father is a criminal because of tax evasion? Why won't you ask him why? Dad, they have problems, can't he have a second chance?”
“Dear, I--”
“You told that to Mom, remember? When she was with alcoholism, you knew she could have a second chance, changing her ways...”
Dad sat beside me on the bed, and gave out a big sigh.
“I know that. I just...I don't want you to make the same mistake as she did.”
“By drinking much? I never drink like you asked me to do since I was in junior high, when mom...” I trailed off, remembering what my Dad said over the phone when I was in school, then he rang my phone, I answered, and upon hearing his voice...
“She's gone, Drey...”
Tears start falling from my eyes, that burnt my cheeks. That left my brain to overthink, my heart to stop beating and my body to collapse and my eyes to cry. Dad also experienced the same, but Lauren helped me overcome sadness, and Dad's friends on the Police.
“Drey...” Dad said, noticing I am crying remembering mom.
“Sorry...” he whispers. I hugged him, letting happiness overcome the pain that is left on my heart, and will be kept forever.
“Okay, I'll let you be with Jace, but remember, you have your limits.”
“Sure, thanks...”
He finally left the room, and leave me staring at the wall, thinking about the past, the present and maybe the future...
. . . . . . .
After eating my lunch, I texted Jace about the backup plan we had, since I heard that plan of Henry against him. Although, he had to ask first, why I'd hang up, but I explained everything and yeah, he's good. He knows I don't lie to him.
“So, the backup plan?”
“The backup plan is...to wear a costume that covers our faces at the party?”
“You mean like Jason from Friday the 13th?”
“Sort of, but I'm thinking of dressing up as a hot dracula.”
“Wow. A vampire Jace, I'll be a vampire then, just enough to cover our faces, let's wear ballroom masks.”
“Good Idea, then we can continue the plan to let the police arrest him at the party.”
“Just make sure, we got correct details, and we'll be good.”
“Alright then, so, tell your dad that the drug den to the warehouse, is on their basement, probably one of the lifts of their cars. He should investigate when the Halloween Party happens. Good?”
“Yeah, good :)”
“Night?”
“Night Jace XD”
“Night Sexy ;)”
Oh god.
But that's the plan, get Henry caught on the party itself, but my Dad had to investigate the warehouse first before doing so, and if we found the basement that Romeo told him, the police would raid the party and put him in cuffs, guiding him outside to the police cars.
Now, isn't that a sweet revenge?
Why do I say that, I'm supposed to be good, not partners with Jace! Oh man, he got me influenced so hard. I won't be shocked when I lit cigarettes anytime soon, I hope I won't.
