a year later; Matthew hears people talking about the return of Bethany, and goes to her house to greet her.
Matthew knocks four times on the door, but when he doesn't hear the fading noises of footsteps, he knocks two more times. He waits ten minutes, if not longer, and then stares up at the rooftop. Matthew is definitely not known for his cleverness, seeing as that is what gets him in trouble all the time.
"Don't you even think about it." As Matthew turns his head to the source of the voice, a window a few metres away, a smirk appears on his face. "Too late."
Bethany stares at Matthew through the thick, green tinted window as he jumps and grabs the wall. He makes his way up, climbing towards the bigger window of the biggest room, which is the size of the whole house, just on top of everything.
When Matthew is almost at the top, he hears footsteps approaching. He guesses Bethany is coming to greet him, but when he actually gets up and looks inside the window, he sees Bethany starting to cover the sight with the black curtains.
It's windy, but humid outside. Matthew lets his finger glide across the window, which seems to make Bethany stop and just stare. When he lifts his finger again, he sees Bethany pulling the curtains away from the almost totally covered window. About to start daydreaming, until he hears her voice, asking "why didn't you ask why I came back?"
"What? Pardon." He smiles. "Why did you ask why I left?"
"Because I want to know." He states as a matter-of-fact.
"why didn't you want to know why I came back?" Confusion, but also bits of hurt appears in her eyes.
"Because I know why you came back."
"Why did I come back?" She crosses her arms as the wind blows cold into her room.
"You came back for me."
