With one last look in the mirror I grabbed my sneakers and laced them up. It was currently ten in the morning, which was early for me to get up on a Saturday, but I was planning on getting a run in before I had to get to work.
Every Saturday I go down to Patty Cake Bakery and help out the owner, Patty. She was just the sweetest old women and she can make one killer red velvet cupcake.
I stepped out my front door and took off running. It is a good thing that I actually love to run seeing that I also love cupcakes.
Is it weird that I can't stand running while listening to music? I hope not because I can't stand it for some odd reason. As strange as it sounds, I love listening to the sounds of nature vs. the sound of music.
“Pst Sharpie!”
I slowed down and looked behind me in confusion and saw no one. That’s weird because I could have swore I heard someone calling my name. I shrugged it off and turned back around to start running again.
“Sharpie! Pssst!”
Ok either I am going crazy or someone is really calling my name yet when I turned around again, there was no one. My heart started to pound against my chest quickly and I grew uneasy.
That is until a head popped out of the bush beside me and scared the living daylights out of me. I jumped back when I saw who it was.
“What are you doing in a bush, Danger? Are you crazy!?” I exclaimed. “Last time I checked it was quite weird and sketchy to be hiding in a bush calling out peoples names!”
I watched as Danger looked to his left and then to his right before he stepped out of the bush. “I just wanted to see if you wanted to hang out. What do you say? Wanna hang out?”
My mouth fell open and I gave him a ‘really’ look. I then proceeded to roll my eyes. “You could have oh I don't known, texted me like a NORMAL PERSON!” I exclaimed throwing my hands up.
“Yeah well that's not as fun. So, what do you say? Actually lets go we are going to hang out.” Danger told me as he grabbed my wrist and began to walk back in the direction I had come.
So much for my run.
___
“Look, I have something to do so yeah I am going to go now.” I lied when we reached Dangers house.
I am still on the edge. I mean I want to hang out, but I still have an uneasy feeling. I guess that I am just being idiotic I guess.
Danger stopped and turned to face me. “Sharpie, I know you are lying seeing that I am your only friend and your mom is shopping with my mother right now.”
My jaw dropped. Even though it was true he didn't need to be so rude gosh. That hurt.
I am guessing that Danger saw the hurt look on my face because he quickly tried to make it better.
“Um, i'm sorry I really didn't mean for that to sound mean. I just wanted to hang out and you are trying to leave. Look I am not very good with this whole apology thing but I hope-” I cut him off.
“Why are you apologizing. It’s the truth so just drop it and lets go inside.” I said in a dull and emotionless tone.
“I am sor-” I cut him off once more.
“I said drop it.” I said and then he went quiet as we walked inside. Went went to his living room and sat down.
“You want to play so video games or watch a movie?” Danger asked me, breaking the silence that had fallen between us.
