I was a little girl once.
A little girl with long blonde hair.
Normal mentally.
But once my feet hit the ground.
I couldn't stand on my own.
Couldn't walk up stairs for years.
Or dress myself.
My father wouldn't let me shower.
Until I was thirteen.
They wouldn't let me use crutches in school.
Until I was fifteen.
I fought so hard to gain respect.
But it seems like no one hears.
This wasn't a choice I got to make.
My body was made to be this way.
And now I lay in bed everyday.
I cannot bend my knees.
The little girl had surgery.
And she is now sixteen.
Maybe this time they'll see.
How strong I can be.
No matter the challenge life throws at me.
