as i finished cleaning up the counter after i ate, my phone began to ring, and i threw away the paper towels into the garbage making my way over to it.
i looked at the caller ID seeing it was an unknown number, but i decided on answering it anyways.
"hello?"
"is this val?" the ladies voice murmured into the phone.
"whose calling?"
"my name is nancy. there's been an accident."
"how does this concern me? whose been in accident?"
"well-"
"listen if this is some type of prank, i will report you to the police."
"you were the first person on speed dial."
"excuse me -"
"jack insisted we call you."
