Chapter 4: Dinner P.2

-Jake-

I put the phone back on it's reciever. Sighing, I leaned back on my leather chair, rubbing my eyes and face. I closed my eyes for a moment, trying to have a nap.

A knock startled me, making my eyes flutter open. I groaned in annoyance. "What?" I said, my alpha tone leaking out.

The door opened revealing Maria, the girl that I chose over Christina.. I chose her best friend over my own mate...

I stared at her neck and found my mark to still be there. Yup I marked her a few months after Christina vanished from the face of Earth.

If your thinking Maria has a mate and I'm going to be alone for ever.. well let's just say that her mate rejected her and mated to another she wolf in my pack. He completely severed the bond between them. Only making Maria suffer the pain of losing a mate.

If your thinking, did I sever the bond with Christina.. no i didn't because I never wanted to hurt her.. I LOVE her and I hate myself for letting her go. But it was for the best.. she wasn't Luna material and no one cares about her..

I stared at Maria, her blonde hair lightly curled. Her face no makeup. Wearing skinny jeans with a white tanktop, showing my mark off to please my wolf. But to be truthful.. I am never pleased.. so is my wolf. We only want one thing.. to see our mate wearing our mark on her neck. But that is a silly dream..

"What is it?" I asked her quietly. She smiled and walked into the office, closing the door tightly behind her. " I know that you would rather drown yourself in work and forget about today.." She started off, but I cut her off. 

"And.. what day is today then?" I stated in a monotone. 
"The day that marks when she disappeared.." She said, her voice cracking at the end. 

I sighed and pulled her towards me. "It's my fault.. I took you away from her.. and thought that I was better than her.. forcing her to accept your rejection.. making her run and disappear.." She sobbed into my shirt. I patted her back. 

"It's okay.. don't cry.. we will find her and bring her back here where she will be safe.. and shown lots of love." I murmured against her hair. "Now.. go get dressed.. we are meeting Alpha Lex's family tonight.. so dress pretty.." I said.

She looked up and nodded, getting off my lap she walked out of the room. I leaned back once more and sighed.  I always hate this day.. its the day that makes my wolf go into depression even more.. even me as well.

I pulled open my locked drawer and pulled out pictures and pictures of Christina that I had taken whenever I had to visit her pack, or when she went along with her family and Alpha.

I ran my thumb across her face in the picture. A single tear fell out of my eyes and landed directly over her face. I wiped the tear off and carefully put the pictures back in, locking it tightly so that Maria or anyone else won't find it.  

Lance, John, Trevor.. get dressed and tell you mates to get dressed as well. we have dinner with Alpha Lex's family at 6, I mindlinked them. 

Yes Alpha.., They said back. 

I groaned as I stood up. Stretching my aching muscles, I walked out of my office and headed back to my room.

As we all got into our cars, we drove to the restuarant, La Bella.
I looked back at Maria to see that she was wearing a tight black dress with black heels. Her hair lightly curled, her makeup all dark. Overall she looks really beautiful tonight.. but not as beautiful as Christina.
