Chapter 22

When I woke up, I was in a dark room with pillars around me. I was in the center of a circle made of words which were written with blood. My entire top was off, but thankfully only Michi was there. She was finishing writing words on my back and faced me.

"Oh? So you're finally awake? We can do the seal now. I needed you to be awake or there would be a higher risk of death," Michi greeted which made me gulp. Death...? She weaved hand signs and put a hand on my curse mark.

"Curse Sealing!" she yelled and all the words went into my neck. I screamed in pain and coughed up blood. Once they were all in my body, a circle formed around the mark. I was panting and holding my neck tightly.

"Now, there's something I need to explain to you. This seal will hold back the power of the curse mark, but it's only as strong as you are. This seal derives its power from the strength of your will, so the stronger it is, the stronger the seal is. Reversely, if your will is weak, then so is the seal, and the curse mark's power will be unleashed in all its fury," she explained and I looked down, nodded and face planted onto the ground. As soon as my face touched the floor, I was asleep.

When I woke up, I was laying in a bed and the clothes I was wearing weren't my usual clothes. I raised an eyebrow at my hospital gown and the wires attached to my arm. I sighed, realizing my condition was not great thanks to the curse mark, and looked to the side. My eyes widened when they met with a familiar face.

Sasuke...

His face was so peaceful. He was soundly asleep, and I assumed he was doing much worse than I was. I looked down and away from Sasuke. I sat up and ripped off the cords that connected me to the IV and the machine that checks my heart rate, blood pressure, etc.

I slipped my legs to the side of the bed and let my feet touch the floor. It was extremely cold and I jumped back slightly in surprise. I placed my feet down again and stood up. I wobbled a bit, but I was able to gain balance and walk around the room. I slightly smiled, proud of my small accomplishment and left the room.

My stomach growled as I was extremely hungry, starving even. I didn't know how long I had been out, but I knew it was more than just a few hours. My eyes widened at the thought of missing the third part of the Chunin Exams. No way did I sleep through the exams!

My walk became a run as I desperately sought a nurse or doctor. Eventually, I ran into one and interrogated her immediately.

"Lady, please tell me how many days it's been since the end of the second part of the Chunin Exam?" I asked the nurse and she blinked in surprise.

"It's been 3 days, miss. Could you please tell me your name and room number to take you back?" she asked politely and seemed genuinely concerned for my mental health.

"I don't know my room because my smart ass forgot to check, but my name is Hotaru Hamasaki," I told her quickly and she mumbled "Ohh..." as if my response explained something. I raised an eyebrow and she smiled.

"Please follow me, I know exactly where your room is," she said and started walking. I followed behind her and nodded at the door she stopped at.

"Is this room familiar?" she asked and I nodded.

"Yeah, thanks. And just a quick question; are you my nurse or is there another one assigned to this room?" I asked and he shook her head.

"I'm afraid I'm not assigned here, but I could call over yours," she told me and I nodded.

"That would be greatly appreciated, I mean, I haven't eaten in 3 to 4 days and I'm STARVING," I thanked her and walked back into my room. I flopped onto my bed and as soon as I did, another nurse walked in. In comparison to the previous one, she had sandy brown hair that was tied back in a bun and hazel eyes. She looked familiar, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it.
