"Come on Matt!" Edd called, running up to the large arch. "I can't wait any longer!"

Matt giggled, walking up behind Edd and ruffling his hair. He looked up at a sign that was hanging from the top of the arch. It read 'Mirror Farms'.

"I'm so excited Matt!" Edd cried.

Matt smiled. "Really? I can't tell."

"Oh shut up." Edd replied playfully as he walked into the ranch.

The prince laughed and followed him inside. The two were spotted almost immediately.

"You actually came!" Jon cried, running over to them with a huge smile on his face.

"Of course we did!" Edd said happily, before noticing Edwardo standing in the background.

The taller knight had his arms crossed and was glaring at him. Edd squinted his eyes and returned the glare trying to look at least a little bit scary. It didn't work.

Matt laughed, looking down at Edd. "What are you doing?"

Edd jumped, grabbing Matt's sleeve to make sure he didn't fall over. "Nothing! I'm doing nothing!"

"It doesn't looked like nothing." Jon stated.

Matt stared at his little brother, before a smile broke out on his face. "Come on Jon, why don't you show us around?"

Jon nodded excitedly and grabbed Matt's hand, leading him around like a small child. They viewed a pen with sheep, which Matt had to stop Edd from climbing in, and a chicken coop, which Matt also had to stop Edd from climbing in. Jon eventually led them over to the huge barn in the center of the farm.

"Come on!" Jon exclaimed. "It's time to meet my friends!"

He pulled Matt into the barn, with Edd and Edwardo following behind. Edd let out a small gasp, the inside looked even bigger than the outside and had a almost magical, rustic feel to it.

A man reading a book waved at them without looking up. "Hey Jon."

"Mark!" Jon let go of Matt's hand and grabbed Mark's, pulling him up.

Mark just sighed as Jon dragged him over to the group.

"Everyone, this is Mark!" Jon said excitedly " Say hi Mark!"

"Hello. Can I go back to my book now?" Mark asked.

"Nope!" Jon said cheerfully, causing Edd to giggled. 'Mark, this is Edd and my brother Matt. They came out here just to see us! Isn't that great?"

"Yea, sure, it's really great. Now-"

"Nope! No book just yet! I need you to show them Todd." Jon looked up at Mark. "Please?"

Mark sighed. "Fine. Come on."

He led them over to a closed stall and began to open it. Edd was practically shaking from excitement, causing Matt to smile.
"What's so funny?" Edd asked.

"It's just, with the way you are acting,  you'd think that you've never seen a horse before." Matt replied.

Edd smiled up at Matt. "What can I say? Horses excite me!"

"Everything excites you." Matt replied.

Edd opened his mouth to reply, but froze. Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted a familiar winged hairstyle.

"Pat-!" he stopped, slapping a hand over his mouth. It was just a mop leaning against the wall.

Edd turned back around, everyone now staring at him. "Sorry! I, uh, thought I saw someone!"

Everyone returned to what they were doing, except for Matt. He looked down at the small knight in concern.

"Edd, what's wrong?" Matt asked, making Edd look away. "Who's 'Pat'?"

"He's nobody. I don't want to talk about it." Edd replied, his happy voice replaced with a rather emotionless one.

He pushed past Matt and walked out of the barn, sitting down on a hay bale. Edd closed his eyes and sighed. He had tried to forget about it by being happy, but his mind always returned to it. Why was he so upset about all of this?

Edd jumped slightly as a hand rested on his back. He didn't need to look up to know that it was Matt.

"Edd... Please. You're not yourself." Matt looked at the small knight with growing concern. "Please-"

"I'm fine Matt." Edd looked up and put a smile on his face. "I've just been going through some things, but you've been here for me. Thank you."

Lying to Matt didn't bothered him anymore.

Matt pulled Edd close, hugging him tightly. "I'm so glad that you told me."

Nope. It didn't bother him at all.

"I love you Edd." Matt sighed, planted a kiss on top of his head.

Not at all....

Edd could feel himself breaking. He could feel the tears in his eyes, threatening to spill out, but he held it in. Edd took a deep breath and smiled up at Matt. The prince returned the smile, reminding Edd of how wonderful their time together was.

And there was no way Edd was going to ruin it with his silly problems.

"Come on Matt!" Edd said enthusiastically, jumping up. "We've got some animals to meet!"

Matt nodded excitedly. "Yea!"

He grabbed Edd's hand and dragged him back into the barn. They walked back over to Jon, who turned to look at them. The horse was nowhere in sight.

"Oh! Sorry guys." Jon apologized. "Todd needed his beauty sleep, but I've got a present for you!"

Matt clapped his hands excitedly as Edd forced a smile onto his face. Jon disappeared behind a corner, returning with a small basket that was covered by a blanket.

He held it out to them with a large smile on his face. "Here you go!"

"You open it Edd!" Matt said, taking the basket from Jon.

The knight nodded and slowly took off the blanket. A small, grey face with large black eyes stared up at him.

"Mew"

"Awwwww!" Matt scooped the small cat out of the basket and held it close. "It's so cute!"

Edd reached out a hand, petting the cat's head as it began to pur. He let out a small, genuine smile.

"What should we name him Edd?" Matt said excitedly.

"Oh, uh.... How about..." Edd said the first name that popped into his head. "Steve."

Matt blinked, then began to laugh. "Put some thought into it Edd!" he teased.

Edd sighed and began to look around the barn for insparation. His eyes landed on two small, metal rings.

"Um, what about... Ringo?" Edd suggested.

"Ringo... I like it!" Matt exclaimed.

"Yea." Edd sighed. "I like it too."

"You guys better be going." Jon chirped. "It's getting dark outside, and I don't want you walking out at night."

Matt smiled at him. "Thanks Jon. We'll see you later."

Edd just gave him a little wave, and the two began to walk to the large arch at the front of the farm. He sighed and looked up at Matt, who was hugging Ringo tightly and talking quietly to him. Edd smiled slightly, until thoughts began to flood through his mind.

Someone at the castle had tried to kill Matt, and Edd knew that they would soon try again. He was going to protect Matt no matter what.

Even if it cost him his life.
