walls

your thoughts are wisps flying in the wind all around me
i am blissfully unaware as i breathe
i inspire snippets of your dreams
laughter is like setting hearts free

your fingers graze my head lightly
i am learning what you do not let others do
you do not let them in to see
the curves of your back or the warmth on your cheek

your arms pulls me close to your heartbeat
and for the first time since i've known you
touch does not make you retreat
it teaches me that this can be true

your heart opens up in the palm of my hand
i am terrified that i have made it chafe
it makes my knees give way like quicksand
i will move mountains to keep it safe.
