The door opens and my mother walks in with a big smile on her face.
I chuckle, "You're in a good mood today."
"I always am, honey!" she cheers.
"Okay, you're acting weird." I sigh, "What did I do wrong?"
"Nothing, darling."
"Yes, I did. Go on, tell me how immature I'm being and how irresponsible I am."
She sighs, "Well, love, um. How was your date?"
"See, there it is. You didn't even know I had a date, because I never told you I had one."
"Honey,-"
"Mum, please. I know you saw me last night. I saw you and dad, too. And I don't care what you think about it, but I had a great time with him, and he has really changed.
"Changed? Changed how? He's a pedophile!"
"Mum!! He's not!" I stand up in anger, "I chose to go out with him before and that may have been a mistake, yes, but we're months away from that now. I am 18 years old, I'm not a child anymore and I surely can makemy own decisions. Harry is a kind man and he's trying to be different and I applaud him for that. He's caring, loving and appreciative. Something you and dad have never shown me, because you're always away or too busy doing God knows what."
"Lucy, I'm sorry."
"You know what, mum? Maybe you should get to know someone first before you start making assumptions."
"Invite him over for dinner tonight."
"What?"
"Let's have dinner with him tonight. Invite him over and I'll see how I like him or not."
