Chapter One Hundred & Fourty-Nine

We pushed the door open, Freya being held by Klaus while I stood in front of them. I saw Aurora, her gun pointed at Elijah, then at me.

I moved up to stand by Elijah, who immediately stopped me and stood in front of me.

"The bullets," Elijah swallowed. "They're made of white oak."

"We both know you're not going to pull the trigger." Klaus bravely went up to stand by me, and Aurora now found herself facing the three of us, a trio she would not break apart.

"Yet again, you're wrong," Aurora had the smallest of smiles on her face, but it was a triumphant one. She pulled the trigger, and a bullet went right at Elijah.

Freya used her magic and redirected the bullet so that it went right by my own head and Elijah's. Never the less, we both ducked down, and looked back in shock as we saw the become embedded into a wooden pole.

Freya then began to cough more, and fell to her knees before collapsing on the floor before Klaus could catch her.

"Tend to Freya," he said, making it sound more like an order. "I'm going to go murder my ex."

He raced off, and I went to Freya, Elijah quickly following after me.

"Elijah, find something that I can use to take it out. Pliers, tweezers, anything like that," I told him. Within a few seconds he found a pair of metal pliers. "Freya, I'm not going to lie, this is going to hurt a lot but only a few seconds, okay?"

She nodded. "Just do it. Do it," she wheezed, rushing her words.

So I did. She screamed, of course, but settled for long and loud breaths when I had gotten the bullet out. I bit into my wrist and blood flowed from the wound freely, which she quickly and eagerly drank. I had lifted her shirt to see the hole better, and was able to clearly see it closing now thanks to my blood. She breathed slower now, mostly in relief.

"Can you go find Aurora?" she said. "Help Niklaus."

"Someone has to stay here with you," I told her.

"Roseia, I am no longer asking. Now both of you, go."

I looked up at Elijah, who was just as uncertain as I was. But we needed to kill Aurora. Now.

"We'll be back soon."

With that said, we both rushed into the forest. We ran side by side, tracking the scent that Klaus had left behind. I smelled something like rust, and realized that it was likely Aurora's blood. I went until I found a sign laying upon the leaves, a sign that was half-covered in Aurora's blood.

"They were here," I growled, frustrated that we had just missed them. "They have to be close."

When we finally did find them, we were met with the sight of Klaus on the ground, propped up on his elbows and looking up at Aurora in fear. She had the gun pointed right at him.

"Put it down!" Elijah growled.

Her response was to shoot him instead.

Elijah grunted in pain as he hit the ground, and blood began to pool in the right side of his chest.
