~Chapter 31~

'You have visitors, Alpha Tyler.' William mindlinks me as I'm in the middle of my work. I've been up since 4 am taking calls from nearby packs to settle arrangements for trading and enemy Intel. It's crazy how different this world is from the human world. All the work I've been pulled into makes me miss being a human, or, at least, when I thought I was one.

'Let them in my office. They're family.' I inform him and put down the notes I wrote. Nicole is asleep, so Cole and Nick will have to wait. A few minutes after my talk with Will, the door to my office opens. I see Nick peek his head in with a grin, followed by Cole. "Nicole's asleep right now." I let them know, and they step inside my office hastily.

"We figured." Cole stares at me in amazement. "Tyler Woods playing Alpha before I do. That's honestly a major plot twist."

I laugh, "I wish I were playing alpha, but the tables have surely turned."

Nick sits down on the couch and Cole sits on the chair across from my desk. "I hope Nicole is happy here-- with you. We don't want anything bad happening to our baby sister."

I twirl my pen in hand, "I'll protect her as best as I can. If anything does happen, I'll be sure to let you know as soon as possible, but for now, she's safe and that's all that matters."

Nick suddenly adds, "Have you guys talked about the ceremonies?"

"I haven't told Nicole yet, but our ceremonies are after the funerals. We'll be initiated on the same day. I haven't sorted out the details, yet."

"Speaking of the funerals...." Cole slowly begins, "I know you must be beat about Titus. I mean, I can't imagine life without Nick, even though he's an ass most of the time."

I snort, "Oh, yeah, I know."

"He was our close friend, and it's sad to see both him and Rose go." I nod in agreement. I still don't know where I stand about Titus. I've been having reoccurring nightmares about the accident, and I feel like Titus has something to do with that. Maybe it's because I blame him for all the secrets I was kept from.

"I'm glad that I can call you family, now." Cole leans over and pats my back awkwardly just as the door to the office creaks open.

"Cole? Nick?" Nicole yawns their names. She's wrapped in a blanket and I can tell she's just woken up.

"Rise and shine, Oompa Loompa." Nick jokes.

"What are you guys doing here?" She trudges in the room and stands in the middle of the office.

"We came to see you, and to talk to you."

Nicole gives me a timid glance and I grin at her slightly. "And?" She presses.

"We're sorry, and dad is too. It may not seem like it, but it was just a spur of the moment kind of thing."

Anger flashes in her eyes, "he tried to kill my mate."

Nick pipes up, "But did he die, though?"

She rolls her eyes, "That's not the point, Nicolas." He puts his hands up in surrender. "Look, guys, I love the shit out of the both of you. I can never stay mad at you guys forever, not even dad, but I just need some time." She hugs them both, and they looked relieved.

"Have you talked to mom?"

She gasps, "Of course I've talked to mom!" They begin talking among themselves, and I shy out of their conversation.

"We should let Ty work. Let's go downstairs." She leads them out just as a call comes through. I immediately pick up the phone.

"Hello?" I clear my voice and correct myself, "This is Alpha Tyler speaking."
