Day & Night...

Friday morning
7:00 am...

I found myself standing in front of my dresser, gazing in the mirror. Satisfied with the soft curls I put in my hair, I placed an ample amount of edge control to keep my baby hair tamed. Once I finished up, I put the lid on the edge control and twist it close as I admired my reflection in satisfactory. I placed the container on the dresser before walking over to my bed and taking a seat. I bent down and began putting on my sandals. As I buckled the straps, I heard my cell vibrate upon my nightstand.

I slightly scooted over before reaching for my cell. I gazed at the I.d before pressing talk and sliding the cell to my ear. "Good morning.", I said as I stood to my feet and gathered​ my school books.

"Good morning Hari.", Jade spoke in response. "I was calling to see if you wanted me to pick you up. I drove my mama to work."...

"Yes, I'd love that. That bus is a cringe on wheels.", I said as I swung the strap of my purse over my shoulder. "I'm ready if you wanted to come now.", I said.

"Alright, I'll be there in a few. I already left the house"...

"Okay, see you soon.", I said before ending the call.

I made my way out of my bedroom. Hearing water running on the other side of the bathroom door, I figured my mother was preparing to get in the tub. "I'm leaving for school mama, I love you. I'll see you later.", I said to her.

The running water came to a halt. "Alright baby, I love you too and be careful.", she said and with that, I lightly jogged down the stairs.

I gazed out the window and saw Jade awaiting for me in the driveway. I opened the front door and walked out. Locking the door behind me, I walked down the few stairs of the porch and made my way to the car. I opened the door and got in. "Hello Jade.", I greeted before reaching for my seatbelt.

A soft smile crept upon her face. "Hey Hari.", she said before putting the gear shift on R and backing out of the driveway. She then put it on D and drove off. "So, lately you've been seeming a bit closed off, anything you want to talk about?", she queried before taking a quick glance at me.

I pressed my lips together before speaking."I'm sorry Jade, I'm dealing with so many emotions and I don't mean to be so closed off. It wasn't intentional.", I said followed by a sigh. "I just don't know what to do.", I said which made her furrow her eyebrows out of confusion.

"What's going on Tahari?", she queried as she took another glance at me.

"The other day Briana approached me at school and asked me how I was doing and brought up the situation that happened between August and I at the barbecue. I told her that August and I made up and at that moment her entire demeanor changed for the worst but she told me that she was happy that we made up but then she began to go off on me about how she felt that I've been ignoring her and how I've been acting different since dealing with him. Basically she was insinuating that I was a pot calling the kettle black. You know how she was treating me once she got involved with Devin and how I would speak on it, well she's saying that in the same sense, I was doing the same thing, which I wasn't.", I said as Jade appeared to be listening as she continued to drive.

I shook my head."Wouldn't even let me get a word in, she ended the conversation and she left school. She headed to August's house looking for Devin.", I said which caused her to furrow her eyebrows once again.
