The constant rain, the rough tides, the lack of food and fire, as well as suitable shelter, dwindled away at Raven's strength and morale each day. Seth spent the better part of his days searching for food, while she kept watch over the fire and carried water up from the shore to be cooked. She wasn't used to such rigorous and stressful work, but it was what had to be done in order to survive. It was their daily routine.
Their new life even.

When night finally fell on the fourth day, Raven thought that things finally seemed to be looking up. Seth had gathered a good amount of fruit and nuts for the next day or so, and had improved on their small shelter with palm leaves to help keep out more of the rain. Plus the fact that their fire had withstood the test of time, giving warmth to sleep by each evening.
Yet despite all this progress, Raven found herself sinking deeper into fear and depression. Escape was being pushed further and further from her mind. With the worry of emanant survival always at the fore, she had little time and energy left over at the end of the day to contemplate such hopes. Just how long was this going to last? Were the two of them ever going to find a way to get off this blasted island, or were they simply doomed? Would she be stuck here for the rest of her life?
Raven sighed. She just wondered how Linda was doing. Hopefully, she was safe and happy, living with Dashon in London by now. She really missed her...
"Nice work today princess. We just might live through another day if we're lucky." Seth sighed wearily.
Raven yawned with fatigue and laid her head down on the sand. She was just so worn out anymore...
"You as well Seth, thank you for your diligent help. I...I would be lost without such skills..." She said quietly.
He chuckled and gently patted her head.
"Now now, no need to get upset. We pirates learn to adapt. It's how we survive!" He said proudly.
Raven nodded, though such words were not exactly all that inspiring.
"Do you think...anyone else lived through the wreck?" She asked.
Seth's face hardened.
"I cannot be sure." He mumbled.
She nodded and promptly dropped the subject. She knew those men were criminals and probably deserved death, but some of them might have been his friends too. Yet instead of saving them that night Seth had come for her. Yes, he had actually come to rescue her of all people that night.
"Thank you Seth. Good night." She said softly.
He made no reply, perhaps still lost in thought. So Raven closed her eyes and went to sleep without another word, much too tired to worry about much of anything else that night. For now, both of them were safe, and she supposed that was all that mattered.
