{ Okay so we were AWOL for a month so here is a recap of the events in the previous chapter. BTW, I was suppose to post this a day ago but Wattpad Maintanence had different plans.

Recap: Lawrence, Rori’s mother, finally met Alex and was gettin’ real cozy with the poor boy. After an awkward conversation, she demanded for Alex to join her and Rori to attend a formal party at the Palacio, which is some fancy place where rich socialites like to mingle. Naturally, Alex and Rori had a retched time there and decided that the night was too good to waste so they blew the party off to go to Joe’s which is Rori’s favorite pizzeria in their formal wear. And this is where the chapter takes off.

A/N: I hope you guys understood that. I just pretty much summarized the previous chapter since I felt like taking the last few paragraphs of chapter seventeen was not enough.}

Rori Everhart

Despite being overly dressed for a pizza place, Alex and I were having a pretty good time. We learned to shrug off the weird stares five minutes in although the lots of them were still giving us disapproving looks even as we sat down.

I took the largest piece with the most BBQ bits on it before Alex could get to it. Biting off the tip, I nearly moaned. I just had this yesterday but it never gets old. Alex took his piece from the box but didn’t bite into it; instead he kept his eyes trained on me like I was some kind of TV show.

“What?” I asked him before swallowing the piece in my mouth.

“Nothing.” He said coolly before finally starting to eat his slice, his eyes still trained on me.

“Seriously, what is it?” I touched the sides of mouth then my cheeks just in case I was the dumbass who had sauce on her face.

“You’re nothing I expected you to be.”

“Is that a bad thing or a good thing?”

“Haven’t decided yet.” He said then I smiled. “I’m awesome so I’ll just assume the latter,” I told him, reveling in my newfound boldness with my choices of words. “I’ve been meaning to ask you something though,”

“Ask away princess,” he said with a lazy smile on his face.

“Don’t call me princess.”

“Well you most certainly are dressed like one,” he retorted with a sly smile on his face.

“It’s not in any way poofy so shut the hell up.” I kicked him on his shin and he winced, his playful smile unwavering. “Are you gonna ask the question or not?” He said, taking another bite of his pizza slice.

I stared at him for a moment, trying to phrase the question in my head so it would sound less .. offensive in a way. “Your motorcycle.”

“That wasn’t a question,” he stated.

“I meant your motorcycle, how could you afford something like that considering,” I paused, choosing my words carefully. “Your financial situation.” I watched him tense up a bit.

“You can just say it Rori. Yes, I’m poor. You should call it as you see it, don’t sugar coat it.” He snapped, staring into my eyes with a certain degree of coldness.

“I’m sorry,” I muttered in a barely audible voice. I didn’t know how to address his situation. I was just being polite and didn’t want to sound like a total snob just because I have a bit more crisp bills in my pocket than I’m willing to admit. I bit my lip, determined to ignore the immense desire to squirm under his gaze. But instead, he let out a defeated sigh and leaned back, placing his slice down.
