LORELEI

"ANG BORING naman!" rinig kong daing ni Jamie na prenteng nakaupo sa tabi ni Loki habang nilalaro ang buhok niya.

Tinapunan ko naman ng tingin si Al na seryosong nakatingin sa cellphone habang minamasahe ang templo niya.

"Meow~" Kumawala si Freya sa pagkahawak ni Loki at humiga sa hita ko.

Tama si Jamie, ang boring nga ng araw na ito. Break time ngayon at dito muna kami tumambay sa clubroom. Wala rin kaming magawa kaya palihim kong hiniling na sana may kumatok sa pinto ng clubroom para humingi ng tulong.

"Lori, panlimang hikab mo na 'yan. Matulog ka nalang kaya muna." Napatingin ako kay Al na nakatingin sa akin. Nginitian ko lang siya at gumanti rin ito.

"Loki dear~" tawag ni Jamie kay Loki na ngayon ay nakatayo na at akmang aalis ng clubroom.

"Lorelei, come with me," wika nito.

Napatingin ako kay Jamie na nakanguso at tumayo na. Ibinigay ko si Freya kay Al bago sumunod kay Loki palabas ng clubroom.

"Saan tayo pupunta?" tanong ko sa kaniya.

He didn't answer me, instead he gave me his phone and I hastily read the message.

Inspector Estrada: Loki, I need your help.

"Oh!" I said.

We went out of the school and walked towards a familiar blue Subaru that was parked a few meters away from the school gate. Mr. Vasquez immediately opened the car for us and I nodded as an expression of gratitude.

I guess Loki already told him where to drive us thus the whole ride was quiet.

We reached our destination and I thanked Mr. Vasquez on Loki's behalf.

"I'll text you later, Mr. Velasquez." Loki remarked and got out of the car.

I walked behind Loki as he walked towards a wooden door. He entered the room without knocking and found Officer Estrada scanning a folder. He lifted his gaze and was surprised to see us.

"Loki, Lorelei. Anong ginagawa n'yo rito?" tanong niya na siyang ikinataas ng kilay ko.

"You texted me, you said you needed our help," Loki said in monotone.

The officer just stared at us with a puzzled expression.

"Wala naman akong naalalang tinext ko kayo at kung sakali, andiyan naman si Hel para tulungan ako,"sabi nito.

Hel?

Hel, that explains it.

"Hola~ Andiyan na pala kayo! Hi dad~" tawag ni Hel kay Loki.

Tumingin lang sa kaniya si Loki kaya napanguso ito. Ibinaling niya ang tingin niya sa akin at ngumiti.

"Hi, Lorelei~" bati nito sa akin.

"Hi," bati ko pabalik sa kaniya.

"Pasensya na, officer, ninakaw ko 'yung phone n'yo para ma-text si dad. I hope you don't mind. I wanna have some time with dad eh~" she said.

Tumango lang si Officer Estrada.

"So, what case is this?" Loki asked.

Ibinigay ng officer ang folder kay Loki at tinignan naman iyon ng huli.

"The victim's name is Cassandra Casiño, 46 years old. Last night, he called Officer Estrada saying that a murder will happen that night and a woman living near the subway is the target. Officer Estrada told Mrs. Casiño to calm down but she became mad. This morning, we found out that she died and autopsy found three bullets in her body: one in her heart, one in her head and the other in her left hand. They assumed that she was dead for maybe six or seven hours before they found the body, which happened to be 11 or 12 at midnight," Hel narrated.
