my parents were having a session late into the night again

so i secretly and quietly plugged in my headphones and sat by the door.

the music played in my ears, a melody i couldn't get rid of

a beat i couldn't dance to non stop

the rhythm that always ran through my body rapidly like there was no tomorrow.

i loved such feeling, but only to learn that i was exposed to something i shouldn't.

music is an addictive thing, songs consist of lyrics

songwriters don't only write songs for the sake of everyone

their lyrics tell a story, many different types, most of which are your typical boyfriend-girlfriend relationships

piano pieces were never played for joy nor entertainment

so were violin nor band pieces

they all told their stories, through the strings and keys played.

my 'parents' never realised the joy, sadness, humiliation and other 101 feelings

you can find in listening to a melody

following the beat or rhythm

even simple hand gestures meant a lot to this world of music.

that was because

music was forbidden

in this cage.
