Imagine being at the grocery store with Shawn and his song starts playing.

"Tell me again why you like shopping fifteen minutes before a store closes," Shawn asked, pushing the cart beside me.
"Easy," I said confidently. "One, there's always that annoying customer who comes in right before closing—so why not be that customer? It happens to me all the time, so why not make the whole world suffer?"
He gave me that look. "I think your logic is flawed."
"Shut up, Mendes."
"Sorry. Please, continue."
"Thank you," I said dramatically. "Number two, there are fewer people, less noise, less distraction. And number three..." I paused, smirking. "I thought it would be easier for you not to be seen. I made up the first two."
"I knew it," he laughed. "You always pretend there's some deeper reason, but it's really just for me. Like you ever aren't yourself."
"You caught me in my lie," I said, laughing as I tossed a bag of chips into the cart.
He froze. "Wait—do you hear that?"
"Hear what?"
He grinned. "Life of the Party is playing."
"Well, you're famous now," I said. "That's kinda how it works."
Shawn smirked. "We don't have to be—"
"Don't you dare start singing," I warned.
"Make your best mistakes..." he sang anyway, grinning like a total idiot.
"Shawn, the idea is to not get caught in a mob of screaming girls."
"So baby, be the life of the party," he finished dramatically.
"Shawn Mendes?" a skinny blonde asked from behind us.
I sighed. "Dumbass," I muttered under my breath.
"Yeah?" Shawn turned, flashing that polite smile.
"Can I get a photo with you?"
"Of course," he said, instantly charming.
After the girl walked away, Shawn turned back to me, still smiling like an absolute goof.
"Do you still love me?" he teased.
"It's questionable," I said with a smirk, "but I guess you being a dumbass is still kinda cute."
"I won't sing in grocery stores anymore," he said seriously, placing a hand over his heart and looking up dramatically.
"Dumbass," I repeated, shaking my head.
He grinned. "I love you too."
