"Well?" I prompted. "Am I gonna stay?"

He still stood silently with his back to me. I gritted my teeth and stepped around him so he had to look at me. I stood on my toes to be slightly closer to being eye level with him. He smirked.

"You can't just ignore me. This is my future and I demand an answer, Blake." I ordered. That got his attention and he raised a brow.

"And what right do you have to be making any demands?" A voice behind us said. I turned around on my heel and felt Blake pull me to his chest.

Jim stood in the doorway smirking. Blake pushed me behind him and pointed his hand to the nightstand so that only I could see him do it.

"She has every right because she's mine." Blake said. I moved towards the nightstand and tried to be sneaky about what I was doing. "You however, have no right to be here. I told you the deal was off."

"Yeah," Jim rolled his eyes. "But I figured since they returned your b*tch you'd have half your pea sized brain back... obviously not."

"Now you watch it." Blake warned. I picked up my plate from the nightstand, realizing Jim's eyes were on me, I tried to make it appear that I was cleaning. He smirked and looked back to Blake.

"Watch what?" Jim asked innocently. "What I say about her or you?"

"Both." Blake said angrily. His playful mood from earlier was long gone.

"Last I checked, she was yours. So she has no right to make any demands anyway. She's lucky she gets the treatment she does." Jim eyed me up and down just as I was about to open the nightstand drawer. "Send her with me for a night or two and I'll show her the difference."

Blake was at the door in a second. He had his hand on Jim's throat.

"I already told you not to make comments like that about my girl." Blake spoke through gritted teeth. He towered over Jim, yet he didn't look afraid at all. At first I wondered why, then he said something I didn't quite hear and Blake stepped back immediately.

What did he say? I thought to myself. Blake looked at me and back to Jim.

"Look Jim," Blake said sounding a little calmer. "I told you the deal is off. It's a matter of principle."

"It's a matter of business and money." Jim said trying to correct him.

"I refuse to work with someone like you."

"What because you're not a monster? You don't kill people and destroy things?" Jim looked at me. "I wonder... does she know about any of it? Does she know about those hands and what they've done? Does she know what you do away from her? Does she know what happened to the guard that was on duty the night-"

"That's enough, Jim!" Blake said sternly. "I won't work with you because you're a backstabbing thief with no morals."

"Aww," Jim pretended to be hurt by his comments. "And here I thought we were friends... oh well, I can work out a deal with your dear dad."

"He's out of the business. You know that."

"Yes... but he'd be interested in knowing what you're throwing away."

"I don't care what he's interested in." Blake said giving him a look. Jim looked directly at me and smirked.

"She would." He said flatly. "Perhaps, you should too. This business is why you get to keep her after all."

"What are you talking about?" Blake stepped towards him.

"Oh, dont play dumb with me. I talked to your father. I know why he likes this one so much and so do you. That's why he's trying to make you keep her."

"Make you?" I accidentally questioned aloud. Blake looked at me and started to rush towards me, but I stood up and stepped away.

"That's not what it sounds like." Blake tried to say.

"Is this why you wouldn't answer me? You don't want me, but they're making you take me?" I felt tears brimming my eyes.

"You know that's not true, baby." Blake tried to grab my hand, but I yanked it out of his reach.

"Oops," Jim said smirking. "Seems we've struck a sore spot ladies and gentlemen."

"Jade, listen to me. I can explain," Blake tried. He reached for the hand with the cast and I hit him with it.

"Oooo," Jim spoke out again. "See, if you'd send her with me, I could break her of that nasty fight."

"Jim," Blake turned away from me and gave him a serious look. "If you don't stop running your big mouth and get out, I'm putting a bullet in you."

"Do it." Jim gave him a daring look. Blake reached into the nightstand that he now kneeled beside of and pulled out a gun. He didn't hesitate or waste a second in pulling the trigger.

Jim ducked and made a small squealing sound. He stood up looking angry and shocked.

"You tried to shoot me!" He shouted. Blake still held the gun.

"Yeah, and I missed so get the f*ck out cause I won't miss again." Blake promised. Jim slammed the doors and left.

Blake turned back toward me and I hadn't realized my jaw hung open until he looked at me.

"I didn't mean to scare you." He sounded sad. I was sitting on the floor against the wall and he knelt in front of me. "And what he said about-"

"Stop." I said regaining my composure. "Help me up."

He did as I said and I limped to the bathroom, slamming the door behind me. I noticed some bags on the sink meant to cover my cast and I decided to take a long hot bath. My leg and arm can hang off the sides, I need this.

I started the bath water, locked the door, and decided to ignore my situation. It was a lot easier that way.
