Roselia's POV

9:32 p.m.

Lab was really long! We had to incubate for so long that I thought we were waiting for an egg to hatch or something. In those times, I had discovered a way to distract myself from sleep; chatting to anyone and anything. It helped the time pass much faster. The lack of sleep also made me unusually loose-lipped and I talked easily with people. The real problem was the lab itself. Unfortunately, I kept making mistakes in the lab due to my deficient ability to concentrate. So, we had to start some methods all over again. Hence, I'm here, walking through the parking lot at almost 10 p.m. with this infernal throbbing headache!

The parking lot was almost empty except for a few cars. Vanessa's group was faster than mine so she went home earlier, leaving me under the dark night sky. Traitor! The last bus had already left two minutes ago which gives me no choice but to walk home in this dizziness.

I walked up to the bus stop, not to wait for the bus but to take a seat and massage my lightheaded eyes. Blood didn't pump nearly close enough to supply oxygen throughout my entire body. In addition, my lungs seemed to not be working properly too. I was beginning run short of breath. Small movements even made me gasp for air. I was just too tired.

I removed my glasses and put them on my lap. This fatigue was getting the best of me and I considered just laying down for a moment. The night was sadistic, to say the least. The moon's light was blocked by a miserable aggregate of clouds in front and I barely saw the road. The wind howled in my ears like a commination that would blow me away if I became careless. However, the silence was perfect. It reflected a sense of safety and if... I... could... just... sleep...

I closed my eyes as the world started to spin around me.

Dark clothes, black ink on his arms.

WAKE UP!

I jolted awake.

"Urghh!" I grumbled and hit my head with my fists. Why doesn't it just disappear? I need to sleep for crying out loud! I forced my dumb little legs to pull me up to the dumb little sidewalk. With a groan, I managed to stand up. But blotches of black attacked my vision and I had to find something to stabilize myself. Steadying myself on the lamp post, I steadied my stance on the sidewalk.

That wasn't so bad, was it? Just a few more dumb steps and I could reach home. Move, tiny feet, move! Was it that tiny or because the world became distorted through my blurry vision? I let go of the lamp post and the ground lurched upwards.

I wasn't under the influence, was I?

In this state of utter exhaustion, it wouldn't make a difference anyway. I hugged myself closer to the lamp post.

Just then, a bright light shone in front of me. The radiance of the light almost blinded me. It gave me the warmth that I needed to stop shivering under the cold air and my body's disability to generate enough body heat.

Heaven?

I looked up and covered the light with my hand to stop it from damaging my eyes.

Nah, it was just a black car parked right in front of me. The lights went off and the sound of a car door opening and closing followed.

"Rose." A deep voice soothed my aching head infinitesimally.

I hummed in response. I couldn't even decipher who's voice was that! My hearing was usually the best of the best. And that's saying something!

"Rose. I'll give you a ride home." A hand touched my shoulder. I have already run out of the ability to feel everything but this hand on my shoulder felt enigmatically innocuous. Again, saying something! Oh, how awfully honest was in my weary, hypotensive and incapable state.
