ARABELLA AND SIRIUS DIDN'T speak during the rest of their Holiday break. Though, Arabella frequently heard Walburga yelling at Sirius which made her feel incredibly fortunate that her parents weren't as terrible and as horrid as Sirius' were. Before she knew it, the holidays were over and it was time to go back to Hogwarts.

Arabella's mother offered Sirius a ride to King's Cross which made for a very awkward car ride. Alessandra often tried to crack jokes or try and make Sirius or Arabella tell a story but gave up when she realized that neither of the two was going speak.

When they arrived at the station, Alessandra said goodbye to the two and hugged them both as they left to board the train to Hogwarts. Neither said a word as they entered their usual compartment and sat on opposites sides. Arabella stared at the window as the train started to move, beginning what felt like the longest train ride of her life.

James, Peter, and Remus were waiting for them when they got out of the train. The three gave both of them a hug and tried to start a conversation as they entered the carriage that would take them back to the Hogwarts Castle.

"So how was home?" James asked, trying to diffuse the noticeable tension.

"Terrible."

"Alright, I guess."

Sirius and Arabella said at the same time. Which caused them to look at each other for a fraction of a moment, and immediately look away.

Remus coughed,

"Loved your gifts Ara."

"Me too." James and Peter said, agreeing.

"You're welcome. I knew you guys would love it!" Arabella smiled slightly.

"No love for my gifts?" Sirius tried to joke but didn't really land well. He tried to smile it off but it ended up looking more like a grimace.

"We loved your gifts too, Padfoot." James said sincerely.

"Shame that we couldn't spend the holidays together though." Peter said sadly.

"Yeah." Arabella sighed and another awkward silence fell upon the carriage amd it continued on until they arrived at the castle.

"I'm going to go find Lily. I'll see you guys later." Arabella said exiting the carriage and waving goodbye at the boys.

"Yeah. I'll try and find Vanessa. I need to talk to her." Sirius said, leaving James, Peter, and Remus.

The three of them sighed as their two friends went off in separate directions.

"You know what really sucks, this ride is the most time the five of us spent together in the last months." James said sadly.

"I know." Peter agreed, shaking his head lightly

"We need to tell Arabella what we heard."

_____

ARABELLA HAS heard a lot of crazy things come out from her friend's mouths, but none of them were as crazy as what she had just heard. When James, Peter, and Remus told her they had wanted to speak to her in private, she was already suspicious on what crazy thing they had to tell her.

"Ara, Sirius is being brainwashed." James said seriously.

Arabella has heard a lot of crazy things, but that one just took the cake. "I swear, if you three are joking-"

"We're not! We swear, we heard it with our own ears." Peter said.

"Here us out, okay?" Remus said. James and Peter thought it would be best if he explained things as he had the greatest chance of Arabella believing him. "Over break, we heard Vanessa talking to her friend on how she was practically controlling Sirius' mind! She gives him some kind of potion. Something much stronger than a love potion-"

"Remus, I never realized how good of an actor you were." Arabella said, cutting Remus off.

"You don't believe us." James said accusatorially, squinting his eyes and looking at her, wondering why she wouldn't believe them.

"Of course I don't!" Arabella said frustratedly. "You three are aware of how absolutely mental you sound right now?"

"Yes, we know it's a bit hard to believe-" Remus started.

"Hard to believe is an understatement. I'm considering sending you three off to a mental institution." Arabella said, cutting Remus off.

"I swear to Merlin, if Sirius put you up to this-" Arabella said, trying to stop herself from getting even more frustrated and angry.

"Why would you think that Sirius put us up to this?" James said, cutting Arabella off.

"We talked during break-"

"You guys talked?" Peter said excitedly but was stopped by Remus shaking his head, "Now's not the time Peter."

"Right, sorry."

"Anyways, we talked during break and he told me how he felt like he was not himself." Arabella said, growing increasingly more frustrated as she remembered every word Sirius had said to her and realizing how preposterous they sounded.

"Exactly! Because he's being brainwashed!" James said loudly.

"Right and I'm the queen of England!" Arabella said sarcastically, her voice getting louder as well. "For all I know, you're all just saying this so I could forgive him and we're all going to live happily ever after. It's not that easy!"

"Ara! Please." Remus pleaded, "Here us out."

"I heard you and what you're saying is insane!" Arabella said.

"You know what? I need to take a break from all of this." Arabella said, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath. "I'm going to go take a walk with Lily."

James, Peter, and Remus let her go since there seems to be no stopping her anyways.

"So we're really going to have to prove it huh?" James asked, watching Arabella's retreating figure.

"Yes we do, Prongs." Remus said sadly.

"Operation PJP is a go then?" Peter asked.

"Operation PJP is a go."
