SPIKE.

William The Bloody was standing on her front porch in Mystic Falls and Buffy was ready to explode.

After their momentary alliance to take down Angelus, she was never supposed to see him again. Yet here he was, that stupid smug smirk on his face. Like she wasn't about to kill him for daring to show up here.

Around her very human friends and family.

Spike was a dead undead man walking. He would be dust blowing in the wind once she got her hands on him. But first, she had to get him away from the house.

"Did you miss me, pet?"

The glass of milk that she had been holding cracked, glass shattering loudly as her fingers clenched around it.

The echo of glass shattering all over the floor caused both Stefan and Damon to rush into the hall, drawn in by the sound. Not that Buffy noticed, her eyes were too focused on Spike who momentarily glanced at the two Salvatore brothers.

At the sight of them, Spike quirked a curious brow, his head shooting quick glances between Buffy and them before his smirk started to grow.

It was like he knew something she didn't.

Stefan walked over to Buffy, his jaw clenched and his eyes clouded with concern as he glanced down at the palm of her hand, which luckily hadn't been cut. Carefully, pulling the remaining glass shards out of her hand he squeezed her wrist "Buffy?"

Her eyes didn't shift from Spike.

Stefan was officially worried, the look on her face was pure fury. Whoever this guy was, clearly he was not a friend like he claimed to be.

"You okay?"

Knowing everyone was waiting for her to speak, Buffy quickly plastered a bright smile on her face before nodding "Sorry, just shocked. Haven't seen old Spike here in ages." She had hoped for it to be never again.

Clearly, she had the worst luck in the world.

It was like the universe was mocking her. She was finally starting to give herself a chance to connect with people again only for the whole reason she had cut herself away to show up on her doorstep. Reminding her of the danger she brought to people just by being around them.

Waving off Stefan's concerned face, she squeezed his wrist back before carefully making her way over to the front door.

"Just have a few questions for your girl nancy-boy. I wouldn't hurt a fly." Spike piped up, smirking over at Stefan having noticed the little touches.

Buffy clenched her fists tightly. She was going to break his damn jaw.

"I will just be a second." She assured the others as she purposely grabbed the jacket she knew had a stake hidden in the sleeve "You guys go back to bonding or gossiping. I will be right back."

Without another word the blonde stepped out of the house, slamming the door shut behind her.

Not wanting to risk the neighbors seeing her pummeling Spike, Buffy dragged him roughly through the backyard just out of view of any windows.

Once she was 100% sure they were out of sight, she didn't hesitate to slam him right up against a tree. His face was pinned up against the bark as she twisted his arm behind his back, crushing the bones.

The sound of the bones in his elbow crunching violently echoed around them.

"Bloody hell woman!" Spike grunted out in pain, desperately struggling against her ever-tightening hold.

His wails of pain caused a smug look to cross her face. She was very much enjoying the sight of his misery.

Finally, she turned him back around, her hand wrapping around his neck "What the hell are you doing here, Spike? What part of telling you never to show your face around me did you not get?"

Spike scoffed only for Buffy to tighten her hold, her gaze narrowed in on him.

"Me? What am I doing here? Shouldn't you still be on the bleeding Hellmouth?"

"Re-located." She snapped, which was technically true. She had come to Virginia not only to protect her family but because of the massive issues supernatural-wise across the state.

She was in no mode to play nice. Tonight had already become a complete drama-fest. She didn't need nor want Spike to show up and make her life all the more difficult.

"Tell me what you're doing here before I get testy" Stepping back, she crossed her arms over her chest as she glared at him.

The vampire groaned in annoyance and smoothed out his leather jacket before focusing back on her "Look, I'm only here to pick up a little ingredient for a spell, heard I could find it here. I spotted you in town playing a normal teenager and figured you could help a bloke out. It's called Vervain. Thanks for me helping with our old pale Angel."

He made it sound so obvious. But just because they had teamed up once to take down Drusilla and Angelus didn't make them favor buddies.

Her favor had not been killing him the second Angel was dead.

"Why in the hell would you think I...would help you?"
