Chapter 11

Lewis looks at Lexi, taken aback by her words. She's supposed to hate him. Which means she doesn't, right? That's a good thing right?

"I don't want to confuse you, it's not my intention."

"Then why do you act like a jerk towards me?"

"I-I don't know," Lewis admits, which only seems to anger Lexi even more.

"You don't know? You just happen to be a jerk to me without any reason?"

"No, that's not-"

"Do you know what you've put me through? How much it hurts me? How tiring it is to work with you?"

"I don't," Lewis admits, but he feels like Lexi is about to tell him.

"I did this for my dad! I took this job to help him! But then ever since we met, you've been acting like I've done something horrible to you! You never even gave me a chance! Right from the start, you decided to hate me and I don't know why. I've been so patient with you! So patient! But it was all for nothing!"

"No, that's not true!" Lewis exclaims, but Lexi shakes her head.

"It is, nothing has changed!"

"You don't know me Lexi, you have no idea what I've been through!"

"No, I don't. But I do know that it doesn't give you the right to act the way you have."

"No, it doesn't, you're right," Lewis admits, surprising Lexi.

"Wait, what?"

"You're right and I'm sorry," Lewis says and Lexi stares at him for a few moments, surprised that he admitted she was right.

"I am?'

"Yes, you are."

"Oh," Lexi says, not really knowing how to react.

"Look, I know it's not an excuse for the way I've treated you, but I've been hurt in the past and you reminded me of the person who hurt me. I didn't want to make the same mistake and end up hurt, again, because I don't know if I'll be able to recover again."

"I won't hurt you Lewis," Lexi says, suddenly feeling bad for him.

"I know that now."

"Then why did you still act like a jerk today?"

"That was just because I was frustrated, which is also not an excuse."

"So now what?" Lexi asks and Lewis takes a moment to think.

"I think it's best if we just go to sleep now and talk later. We're both tired and a lot happened."

"I like the sound of that," Lexi says as she gets comfortable again.

"Good night," Lewis says as he gets comfortable as well.

"Good night."

"Are you busy tomorrow?" Lewis asks as the two of them get off the plane. They haven't said much to each other since their conversation last night, but not because there's tension between them, but because there's a lot to think about.

"I don't think so, why?"

"Can I come over?"

"You want to come over?" Lexi asks surprised and Lewis nods.

"I want to talk. Really talk."

"Okay."

"Yeah? What time?"

"Whenever you want, I don't have anything planned."

"Great! I just want to figure this out, you know?"

"Yeah, me too," Lexi says, making Lewis smile.

As Lexi arrives back to her apartment, she quickly unpacks her back before she takes a shower. It's still quite early in the day, which means she has an entire day to fill with doing nothing. Well, not nothing, she still has some work to do, but she knows she won't be able to concentrate on that as her mind is filled with Lewis and what happened between the two of them. She has to talk to someone about this.

Lexi takes out her phone and opens the chat with Pascalle, hoping she'll have time to talk.

Lexi
Hey girl :) Got time to talk?

Pascalle
Heyy, yeah sure! What's up?

Lexi
Lewis and I kinda had this....fight? Ish?

Pascalle
Ish?

Lexi
Basically, I exploded and told him how I felt, after which he apologized and we talked for a little while

Pascalle
So things are good now?

Lexi
They're better, we're still gonna talk
But idk what to do

Pascalle
What do you mean?

Lexi
Should I forgive him?

Pascalle
That's not up to me, if you want to forgive him you should

Lexi
Does it make sense to forgive him?

Pascalle
That doesn't really matter ;) Just do what feels right

Lexi
I don't know what feels right. I want to be friends with him, but he did hurt me

Pascalle
Did he explain why?

Lexi
Yeah, a little

Pascalle
Just ask him about it and see if it's a good enough reason for you. If it is, you can forgive him if you feel that's what you should do and the two of you can move forward :)

Lexi
He's coming over tomorrow

Pascalle
Oehhhh

Lexi
Not like that!

Pascalle
What? A girl can dream right? If you make up, you'll be my OTP ;)

Lexi
Seriously??

Pascalle
What? You'd make a cute couple

Lexi
Just keep dreaming :P

Ohh I will
Just say I'll get to say I told you so

Lexi
When?

Pascalle
When you inevitably end up together :)

Lexi
Sure, it'll never happen anyway

I gotta go, got a date with Stof :)

Lexi chuckles as she puts her phone down, not really know where Pascalle got the crazy idea that she and Lewis could ever be a thing. They already struggled with being friends, how is that a good basis for a relationship? They would never work.

Would they?

No, don't think about him like that! It'll only make things complicated and complicated is the last things she needs right now. Her relationship with Lewis has to be strictly personal, no double dates, no thoughts about him in that way. No matter good looking he is.
