"What do you think this meetings about?" I asked Mason as we ran to a clearing in the middle of the territory where the Alpha held meetings and such. He didn't reply making me anxious. Who was speaking to Mason before the alpha announced the meeting? As we passed by many fellow pack members, I couldn't help but feel frightened.

Our Alpha barely held meetings. Actually the last meeting we had was for the members of our pack that had died in a war that took place over two years ago. And even then it wasn't worse than this.

Kids were crying clinging onto their parents as if they were saying a goodbye. The males a bit older than Mason and I had backpacks on with solemn expressions. The Alpha was up front with Beta George speaking to some trackers.

"I'll be right back," muttered Mason as he walked over to the Alpha. I glanced around and found Rose looking around too. She caught my eye and we both met half way. "What is going on?"

I shrugged feeling quite worried myself. Rose must have noticed Mason wasn't with me, so she asked where he is. I nodded in the direction Mason was in, talking with the Alpha. Her eyes lingered on Mason before diverting her eyes to mine.

"I think something bad is about to happen," Rose trailed off looking around uneasy. I gave her the curious eye.

"Why would you say that?"

"I heard my father and mother talking about something last night. Something serious. The only thing I heard was-"

"Everyone settle down." We all gathered closer to Alpha Brayton. He waited until everyone was silent. Two tense minutes later he began addressing the anxious crowd.

"As most of you might know already the rivalry between Blue Bloods and Dark Moons pack has been getting worse lately. To top it off the Alpha of the Dark Moons pack has requested my presence and make an agreement for the sake of the two packs. But I don't feel as if this would be safe for the pack seeing as the Dark Moons pack does not make agreements. I refused his offer and he will most likely force his way into this territory for war."

Everyone gasped at the thought of a war against the Dark Moons pack. The population of that pack was about 300 while our pack had around 180 wolves. We wouldn't stand a chance against them.

"Which is why we attack first."

The crowd roared in disbelief. Alpha Brayton crossed his arms over his chest as everyone around him spoke out their complaints.

"Alpha, We don't stand a chance!" Exclaimed a women near me.

This was not right. Alpha Brayton always put his pack first and never in danger. What the hell is he trying to do?

"Silence," his voice held a command. Every person stopped to hear him out. "I've already assembled the group that will accompany me to the Dark Moons pack."

I couldn't help but snap my head into the direction where Mason was standing staring at his feet as if they were the most interesting thing. He looked up feeling my gaze but then diverted his gaze elsewhere. From the look he gave me before he set his eyes on something else gave me my answer.

NO! I shouted at him opening the mind link between us. I could practically feel the guilt washing off of him in major waves.

Is this why you've been training more than usual?

For the past few days Mason had been staying up as long as he can constantly training with the older men of our pack. I would ask why he wouldn't stop training because we were safe but he would just reply with: better to be prepared rather than unlucky.
