i can not believe i have to say this every time but; can you write all these don'ts and end up with an amazing, well written story? yES! but if you want your story to be more original, i suggest staying away from the bit overused plots listed below.
THE DO'S AND DON'TS OF TEEN WOLF FANFICTIONS
DO'S:
give them an interesting backstory
make them dislike atleast one person in the pack. they don't have to like everyone! give your oc a different relationship with every character.
when making the oc someone's relative who is already a character in the show, make it original. don't choose derek, stiles, allison, lydia or scott and other overused ones. choose boyd, braedan, deaton, mason, corey, jackson or even the twins.
stay true to the characters. don't make lydia an idiot or allison a bitch.
make them develop and be influenced when spending time with the love interest.
when making the oc supernatural, choose a supernatural creature you haven't seen used before. be original! make one up, even!
DON'T:
use nina dobrev (white) as a faceclaim for scott's (moc) sister.
steal lines or plots or stories from the characters
make the oc bland and boring. (make their only purpose to be a love interest)
make the oc's parents not ask or be involved in anything. unrealistic.
make your character allison's doppelganger. or lydia, malia, allison, or cora's twin sister.
make them suddenly best friends with the whole pack and suddenly are a part of it.
let stiles trust them immediately. we all know he has trust issues.
make theo like and trust the oc easily. i like him but he is manipulative and a liar.
