As our brunchish lunch started to come to an end, payment became an issue.

"Excuse me. Can we get the check please." Gage asked. After our late night snack last night I was determined to pay this time, but something told me that it wouldnt be so easy. I leaned my elbows on the table and rested my head on my hands and looked him square in the eyes and gave him a cute half smile. This caused him to chuckle and look me right back in my eyes and question my smile, "What?"

I shrugged and said, "What are you talking about?"

"I see that face. What?" He look suspiciously at me, as I tried to keep an indifferent look.

The waiter came to our table with the check in that stupid little check holder thingy and went to hand it to Gage, before I intercepted it. I grabbed it from the waitresses and said, "Thanks." with a smile. I leaned back in my chair with the check in my hands and wore a victorious smile.

Gage too leaned back in his chair and chuckled a bit before saying, "Your seriously not paying for it. Im the man, I'll do it." he wore a cocky funny smile.

"Call me a feminist, but I think I am fully campable of paying." I said with my own cocky smile.

"But your not a feminist." He said mater of factly. Its so weird how I have barely know him, yet he still knows me.

As I grabbed my purse and got up I said, "This maybe true but im still paying. You can pay the tip, Mr. Man." I laughed as I walked away from our outside table to the inside of the restraunt. The second I opened the front doors I was welcomed with a blast of cool air. It felt really nice considering its summer time outside.

I was unfamiliar with the restraunt, so I had to look around a little before finding the cash register. Once I found it I walked over toward it. There were people standing in line already, and from the looks of it the place was short on staff today becuase I felt like a life time before the person two people in front of me paid. When The line finally moved up to being my turn, my luck came into play and the girl behind the counter said to me, "Im super sorry ma'am. I know you've been waiting but they need me in the kitchen really quick. Im sorry." she was super apoligetic and kind, so I put on a friendly smile and said, "Its okay im not in a rush."

The second she exited to the kitchen I acted contridictory to my words and groaned, "Uhhhhh, this is taking forever!" I rolled my neck and looked at the ceiling as I threw my mini tantrum.

I heard the person behind me laugh at my out burst. This made me kind of heated, I was already aggeruated but I wasnt in the mood to be really mean. So my big time come back was a weak, "Whats so funny buddy?" as I turned around to face my victum.

His mouth slacked open a bit. I dont think he intended for me to hear him. "I. Uhh. Its just you were so nice to her, then you got annoyed with the ceiling." he attempted a smile to try and say he was trying to be funny.

I simply rolled my eyes. Then I really looked at him and remembered that I knew him sort of. He was one of the guys from Logans little gang of regects. He was nicely tanned with dark black hair cutt short. He wore a white 'Im The Life Guard' shirt with red letters and symbols, with a pair of red swimming trunks outlined in white. He was a real nice looking guy. He reminded me a lot of Mitch, my ex-douchebag-boyfriend. All of this and the way they all acted toward Gage made me glare at him. I simply informed him, "I dont like you." It sounded childish once I said it but like I said I wasnt in a royally mean mood.

"Ouch." He said mocking me and grabbing his chest as if in pain. "Thats kind of harsh and very direct. What did I do again?"

"Hello. You were mean to Gage and he's my....friend." Im not actually sure where exactly we stand at this moment.

"Friend? Plus, I wasnt mean to him thats all Logan. I could care less. He doesnt bother me, I dont bother him. Im not accountable for Logan and his stupidity." He said with a shrug.

"Fine. I just hate Logan then." I said but still turned around. Hey, just because I dont hate this kid doesnt mean that I have to talk to him, right?

"Are you new here?" He asked as he moved next to me, leaning against the counter looking at me.

"Uhh." I groaned and rolled my eyes before turning and talking to him, "Yes." I then promptly turned back away from him. I wanted him to know I wasnt fond of his company.

"Im Brandon. Brandon Nelson." He held his hand out infront of me for me to shake it. I turned to him and shook his hand. Once our hands released, I leaned up and slightly across the table and tried looking around behind the counter for some hope of salvation from this brandon person. No luck. "Suddenly in a hurry?" he asked,

I turned to look at him he was politely smiling, making small talk. I smiled back sarcastically and said, "yeah, suddenly."

He nodded at this and looked down a bit confused, but I was still looking at him with my ridicuous smile. He abrubtly looked back up and said, "So do you have a name?"

Uhh, how much longer is this going to last, its even getting hard not to like this guy. Hes not even acting like a douche or like he has a huge ego or anything, hes being nice. I finally gave up to his attempt of conversation and said, "Yeah, Its Heather. Heather Pickler."

"Pickler? Seriously." he asked sort of chuckling.

I started to laugh too, "Yeah, it totally sucks I know."

"So. I know I kind of just met you but I was kind of wondering if maybe you would want to go out tomarrow?" He asked kind of nervously.

"Ummm." I have no clue where me and Gage stand and he has douchey friends. "Im not looking for anything serious right now." I simply said. He looked rejected and kind of bummed and upset and he really was a nice guy. Which lead me to continue, "But what did you have in mind."

He looked up at me and smiled, "Well, Do you know how to surf?"

My eyes practically bulged out of my eyes and a smile spread across my face. "No. But I have always wanted to learn."

"Hows tomarrow morning, 6 AM. Right out there on the beach". He pointed out the restraunt. I paused looking out the glass window at Gage. Brandon noticed my hesitense but not the cause and he said, "Just as friends."

I looked up at him and smiled, "Yeah, It'll be fun."
