The Expedition came sooner than expected.

I had already missed them leaving because I had left for the the Garrison Heichou sent me to.

I was so depressed over him rejecting me, but at the same time, relieved our friendship didn't change.

I stood outside in the Courtyard watching people repair their Vertical Maneuvering Equipment and trading goods.

Please return safely, Levi...

The Trainee Corps were due to pick their Regiment today, but an emergency popped up.

The sirens began to blaze and I flinch due to being startled.

I followed what everyone else did. I had no idea how things went down in the Garrison so I just followed everyone else.

I threw on my uniform and equipped my gear. My new blades were a lot longer and sharper with a golden lightning bolt plastered on it. Levi had given it to me as a gift.

I wrap my hair in a high bun and run with everyone else towards the top of the wall.

"Trainees! Prepare the cannons!" Someone yelled.

I saw an entire group of what looked like teenagers. Panic well written on their faces.

"What's the situation?" I ask a boy who was seemingly short with a shaved head.

"Titans...Titans coming from the north..." he points out beyond the walls.

I look, but I don't see anything.

"Where?" I ask, straining my eyes in the direction his finger pointed.

"In front of you. You're telling me you don't see them? Anyway, I can't talk right now. There's a situation underway and I gotta fulfill my duty, or else our instructor will have my ass!" He yells at starts fiddling with a canon while others run around.

I draw my blades and keep look out, but not once do I see any titan.

"YOU. What do you think you're doing!? Do you not see all of these titans!? Are you trying to be dinner!?" A man walked up to me with a dark, angry aura around him.

"Nothing, s-sir!" I salute. "I just..I don't see any titans. I still don't know what the situation is, sir!"

"You don't need to! Just focus! Get your head out of your ass, or else I'll feed you to the titans myself!" He struts away and begins screaming at the teenagers to go quicker.

I stand confused.

There's no titans? What's wrong with everyone?

I walk away  and recognize three faces.

Well, I'd be damned..

I rescued the two the other day, and I assumed the third was a friend.

"Eren..." I greet, and bow to him. It wasn't normal to bow to someone younger than you or of a lower rank than you, but I did it anyway just in respect. "Why are you here?" I look into his big, green eyes. They were filled with anger.

"You..! I remember you...you saved Mikasa and I on that day, but you left my mother to die!" The girl that resembled Levi, Mikasa, grips onto his shoulder.

"I had to leave her, or else we all would've died. I had to protect you." I look at him apologetically. "I'm so sorry for your loss. If I could've done something, I would've."

"Nevermind that. Now is the day humanity takes back its freedom! Today is the day we kill the titans!" He screams down the wall. "Today is the day you all die and burn in hell, you bastards!"  Armin tries to pull him back and calm him down.
