Over the last few days Bucky and I have been seeing each other everyday without fault and I felt like something was off. He would always shrug it off with a smile and say he was just thinking but he never shared his thoughts. It really had me worried. What if he was in some kind of trouble? I shook my head I was probably over thinking things.

Today was the Stark Expo, Bucky and Steve were going to pick me up after my shift to head over. Just as I was finishing up with my last customer I heard the door open and I grinned looking over expecting to see Bucky, and I did. But what I wasn't expecting was for him to be wearing a uniform.

I excuse myself and walk over to him with wide eyes, "Bucky..."

"Doll I'm so sorry... I wanted to tell you but I couldn't bring myself to ruin our last few days together." He sighed.

"I just-" I shook my head. "I have to change." I turned my back to him and walked toward the staff room to grab my things and change. When I walk back out Bucky is in the same place I left him. I feel my eyes sting but I ignore it and walk out with him.

"Ready?" He asks. I nod but keep quiet. "Doll talk to me." He begged.

I stopped in my tracks, "so this is it? You're leaving me?" I bit my lip looking down.

He sighed and stood In front of me making me look at him. "I'm not leaving you, I'll be back, before you know it." He smiled encouragingly.

"You leave tonight?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.

He nods, "unfortunately."

I couldn't help the tears the started streaming down my face. He pulled me into his chest and I didn't object. "Look we don't have to go out tonight. We can stay home and just talk."

I shook my head and pulled away wiping my tears, "no, no I'm fine. I want to go." I smiled softly.

"Are you sure? Because I don't mind."

I nod, "I'm sure, let's just go." I take his hand and will myself to keep it together for a few hours.

Steve met us at the expo and he frowned seeing my red eyes. "He finally told you?" He sighed.

"You knew?" I frowned.

"I'm sorry, he made me promise not to tell." He sighed.

"It's fine Steve." I smiled softly.

The night continued and I tried not to think about Bucky's soon departure, of course I failed miserably. Steve eventually wandered off to check out the military stand. As we walked around I fiddled with my dress nervously.

"Not havin' a good time doll?" Bucky asks softly.

I looked up at him. "I am! I'm just- thinkin'." I sent him a small smile.

He sighed. "I'm sorry, I know I sprung this on ya."

"No, it's okay... I probably would have worried myself for days... at least we enjoyed our last moments together..." I said softly looking down.

"Hey don't say that doll." He used his finger to tilt my chin up to look at him. "I'm gonna come back for ya, Alright? I'd never leave ya." He wrapped an arm around my waist pulling me in close.

"Really?" I blinked up at him.

"Nothin could keep me away from you, I promise." He pressed his forehead to mine and stared down into my eyes lovingly.

I smiled and kissed him softly. "I'll hold you to that promise soldier."

He looked at the time and sighed. "I've got to get going soon." He tucked a strand of my hair behind my ear.

I nodded. "I understand, can I walk you?"

He smiled, "That sounds perfect." And so I did. Bucky and I made small talk on our way to the station but kept quiet most the time. I could feel my demeanor start to slip the closer we got.

"Doll?" Bucky's voice broke me from my trance. "We're here.."

I nodded and wiped at my eyes. "Right sorry." I took a deep breath. "Don't do anything stupid out there." I looked up at him.

"I won't, Steve took all the stupid." He grinned.

I chuckled a sob.

"Aw babe don't cry." He cupped my cheeks wiping away my tears. "I promise, I'll be back in no time."

"You better be mister, I'll be waiting right here in this spot." I smiled through the tears that wouldn't stop coming.

"Whenever you miss me, just look at this and remember all our good times." He tapped the necklace on my neck that he had given me on our dinner date the night of our first kiss.

"I will." I sniffled.

An announcement was made for everyone to start loading into the trains.

"I love you so much." His eyes started to water as well.

My eyes widened, "Y-you Do?"

"So, so much doll." He wiped his eyes.

"I love you too James." I grinned throwing my arms around him.

He grinned and pulled me in close for one last kiss.

We eventually pulled away and gave each other our last goodbyes before he was forced to get onto the train

We eventually pulled away and gave each other our last goodbyes before he was forced to get onto the train.

I kept my false bravado up and waved at him until the train eventually pulled out of the station. I finally let my facade drop and sobbed into my hands.
