                                      -----------------------------------------------

After spending most of the day on a relatively unhealthy diet of granola bars and cookies, I decided to make my way to the library.

It didn't do too well to dwell on bad emotions, or feelings, stupid feelings.

Perhaps the feelings themselves weren't stupid, because I couldn't feel anything else for Victoria...but the fact that I was still unsure of how to act on them didn't help.

Fox was right though, I wasn't being me, I wasn't standing up for what I wanted to, either.

I couldn't just let Victoria go, so I had to come up with a new solution.

Currently, however, I wanted to take my mind off of it by searching for inspiration in the pages of various books in the library, which smelt like vanilla, of all things. And that reminded me of only one person.

"Victoria, can I speak to you outside?"

Uh oh, Zachary alert.

Not like I could be jealous.

Then again, I could...I didn't have much of a reason to be though, right? As Victoria pretty much hated his guts at this point.

"We're in the library so I wouldn't try to start a conversation here," came Victoria's reply, before I heard her sigh and stand up, then the two of them headed out of the library together, and I felt myself quickly get my books together to borrow them and then follow the two of them.

This was normal...just casual spying to further your knowledge on particular matters, that was all fine.

I think.

I mean, sometimes you just had to do what was necessary for knowledge.

Victoria and Zachary didn't spend too long talking, however, as Victoria pushed past him, and when Zachary's eyes narrowed...as if he knew something.

No one knew though, apart from Fox, Margo, Victoria's dad.

Internalizing my sigh, I sat myself down  on a bench and began to sketch the landscape around me, and then added in some squirrels and bunnies, because animals were needed to liven up the place, though for health and safety regulations all of the squirrels and bunnies had been shooed off campus and placed in forests and petting zoos...which sucked, but I guess it was understandable.

"Boo,"

It was Liam.

I hadn't seen him in a while.

"You scared me," I smirked.

"What's up, Liam?" I asked.

"Well, my current nick name has been changed to Lima bean, rumor has it that the girl I was crushing on is crushing on another girl and..." he laughed gently, I hoped he was joking... either way, if he wasn't, I was afraid I was going to disappoint in regards to him actually having a crush on me.

"Seriously though, what's happening between you two?" he asked.

I exhaled.

"Not much," with a frown presenting itself upon Liam's features, he distracted himself by looking at my current sketch.

"You like?" I asked.

Liam smiled and nodded.

"This is great," he stated.

"Glad you like it," I replied.

Liam's focus shifted to the movement of me coloring in the sketches for a moment, before he spoke again.

"So what are we going to do about you and a certain queen of ice,"

Ismirked, which led Liam to raise an eyebrow in slight confusion.

"I used to call her that," I stated.

"So I heard,"

"Now she's more like the queen of well...the queen of complication," I said.

Liam looked a little confused, but then shrugged.

"Then make it uncomplicated, tell Victoria's dad that no matter what you two are going to be together because that's how it's been since you two got her and that's the way it's going to stay, you two complete each ther, Kate. You can't pass it up because you're scared about what's going to happen, otherwise life wouldn't ever have anything interesting in it happen, you know?"

I nodded.

"You're right," releasing a sigh, I stood up, and said a goodbye to Liam with a slight smile on my face.

Either Victoria's dad came around to us or Victoria and I were a thing that nobody else knew about, we could just keep it between the two of us, until Victoria graduated, then her father couldn't sabotage her place at the university.

I began to head back to our dorm so that I could speak to Victoria about it, but if the whole problem of Victoria and I not speaking wasn't enough to get me to feel down, then walking to my dorm and on the way spotting Zachary with Victoria was certainly not on my list of ideal situations to find myself in. What made it more problematic was the fact that the two were getting closer...and then Zachary leaned in and I felt my heart sting all of a sudden, as they kissed.

Ouch.

Like a cat scratch, that would leave some pain, but Victoria's reaction to the whole thing made me feel some hope.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" Victoria asked, her expression annoyed.

Okay, maybe it wasn't all too bad.

Zachary's eyebrows creased together for a moment, his eyes searching Victoria's for anything that he could hold onto.

He had hurt her, and it made me feel mad that he was even attempting to try anything with her after what he had done.

Victoria deserved someone who actually cared about her.

Someone who actually loved her.

"You can't have me back, Zachary," Victoria stated, about to turn and head off, but Zachary kept her from doing so.

"And why's that? We've got back together enough times before..." he stated.

Victoria just sighed, her shoulders slumping, her eyelashes fluttered a few times, as if impatient, but then she blurted out something that made Zachary stop in his tracks.

"Because I love someone else..." Victoria's eyes widened when she realized what she had said.

Zachary took one step forward while Victoria took one step back, she still didn't want to be there, clearly.

"And who's that?" he asked, impatiently.

Victoria thankfully didn't notice I was there, but I was glad that I was, even though she probably wouldn't currently want me to hear what she had to say in the midst of everything else that was going on.

She admitted who that person was, and it made the past few days of doubts seem to disappear.

Though her voice quietened, her single word was said in complete assurance.

"Kate,"
