I sway in my seat, lolling my head around as I listen to the music pouring out of my headphones. Bobby had left me in the kitchen to start digging through any weird occurrences in the news on my laptop. But I soon grew bored, plugging my earbuds in to keep myself focused. And that 'focus' didn't last very long for I immediately became swept up in the melodies. Drumming my fingers on the edge of the table, I close my eyes and mouth the words. I get a little carried away before Bobby taps my shoulder, pointing to one of my phones buzzing nearby. Jumping in my seat from surprise, I try to catch my breath as he shakes his head and walks away. I reach for my phone and read the caller I.D. It's Sam.
"So, you finally decided to call me, huh?" I smirk to myself, focusing back on the news articles in front of me. He lightly chuckles.
"Sorry. Just been trying to keep up with Dean these past few days," he sighs, the sound of a book closing on the other end.
"I can only imagine. So, what can I do for you, Sam?" I mindlessly scroll through article titles, searching for anything out of the ordinary.
"I, uh, just wanna...talk, I guess," I raise an eyebrow and look away from my laptop.
"Well...that's new."
"What do you mean?"
"Usually people call me when they need help. And you want to 'talk', so obviously something is very wrong," I joke and he laughs. "Where are you?"
"Sitting in the Impala outside of our hotel."
"And Dean?"
"He's...a little preoccupied," my eyes widen in realization.
"Ah. I see. So, you're just going to sit there and wait for him to finish?" he groans in disgust.
"Please, don't," I giggle at his reaction.
"How often do you have to you have to leave the room when you guys are together?"
"Too often."
"Are you jealous?"
"What? No, I just," he sighs, "Not like that."
"Relax, Sam. I'm just messing with you," I grin and then am startled when my other phone goes off. "Crap, one sec."
I place the phone, with Sam on the other line, down and read the caller I.D. on the buzzing one. It's Lora. "Hey, Lora. I'm in the middle of something. Can I -"
My voice stops when I hear sounds from her end – sounds that I've heard before. When we lived together, I had spent weeks, even months, trying to wash my mind clean from them. But here they are, yet again, following me like a bad show tune that will never leave my head. The movement suddenly stops and I hear her curse. She scrambles for the phone and brings it to speak.
