You woke up the next day feeling as if you just had the weirdest dream. It took you a few seconds to realize that it had actually happened, it took you even longer to realize there was an arm drapped over your waist. Newt. You couldn't help but repress a smile.

As you stirred, you felt him instictively hold you closer. You turned around in his embrace just in time to see his eyes flutter open and focus on you, then look around the room and slowly realize that he fell asleep next to you instead of going back to his room. Worry spread across his features along with a pink blush. There was so much to worry about, so much to process... just five more minutes away from reality couldn't hurt. You quickly brushed all worries away with a sweet kiss to his lips. His cheeks turned into a deep red, as he kissed back and held you close.

"(Y/N), what if someone walks in?" he said in between kisses.

"Good morning to you too." You laughed, "Don't worry, people know better than to wake me up unnecessarily."

"Well, in that case..." he said grinning and leaning in for another kiss.

Your lips moulded into each other as he cupped your cheek and placed his hand on your waist. His body half pressed against yours. You played with his soft hair and deepened the kiss, tongues dancing along to the rhythm.

He began trailing kisses along your jawline and down to where your neck met your shoulder. Your breathing became heavier against his ear and you could feel his chest vibrating with a deep growl, which just made all the butterflies in your belly flutter uncontrolably.

"Newt..." you whispered, letting out a small whimper. He kissed you again, a little rough but still kinda lazily as you both had just woken up. When he stopped for some air, he looked adoringly at you. You could easily see every single shade of color in his irisis... it was simply mesmerizing.

"Perhaps we should take a break." He said, still breathing a little heavier, and before you could second guess yourself he continued, "I don't usually go this... fast. You just do something to me I can't quite explain. I like you a lot (Y/N), I would like to do this right. And I'm afraid if we keep this up I won't be able to stop myself."

You couldn't help but smile at the sweet man in front of you. He wanted to take things slowly, and quite frankly you always did take your time. There was just something about him... he was like a magnet pulling you closer, you couldn't help yourself.

"Yeah, that's probably a good idea." You smiled shyly. "I like you too." You whispered.

He grinned proudly and placed a sweet chaste kiss to your forehead before getting up. There was a lot of work to be done.

You got dressed quickly and went downstairs to have some breakfast. Your dad was already sitting at the table with his usual coffee.

"Hey, how are you feeling?" he asked, trying and failing not to sound too concerned.

"I'm alright, my head still hurts a little but I think I have good odds." You joked, earning a laugh from him. "So, uhm... I think we have a lot to talk about." You said, Froot Loop box in your hand.

"Yeah, I think we do. You should probably have a seat."

You pulled out the chair directly across from him at the table and sat, waiting.

"You had just turned four years old," he began "this place was only starting to take off. Your mother and I worked out asses off to make it work and raise you at the same time. We had heard rumors of Jackson and his brother stealing animals, poaching, all to sell them off on illegal trades. No one seemed to be able to tell how they did it.

"One night, right after we had put you to bed, the alarms rang. Someone had broken in. We went out to see what was going on and saw Jackson hailing the animals out of the enclosures, rounding them up. He was always the most put together. His brother though, as soon as he saw us, he took out his wand and started coming at us. It all made sense. They were wizards. They spelled the animals to do as they pleased, all they had to do was walk out of there. Well, your mom and I started fighting back, we couldn't just stand there and watch."

"My mom was a ...?"

"A witch? Yeah, and a really great one at that. We were getting the upper hand on them when Jackson's psycho brother decided to burn the barn so they could get away. The fire spread fast, the animals were still inside. Your mom... she went in to get them out and didn't come back."

I felt tears burning in my eyes, a familiar pain in my chest, a knot in my throat.

"What happened after?" you asked throught greeted teeth. How could that man still be walking around after all that he did?

"I went after them. I found where they were hiding and things got a lot messier from there. I did things I'm not proud of." He explained carefully, the memory still alive in his eyes.

"What happened?" you asked again, you had to know.

"Jackson made me a deal. His brother was in a pretty bad shape which he still haven't recovered from and to prevent having the same fate he said he would leave us alone. As long as we did the same to him. He wouldn't interfere with the santuary as long as we left him alone."

"You should have killed them both." I said, tears flowing freely now. The anger, the frustration, the hurt... it was all too much to take.

"(Y/N), there were two of them and one of me. I was lucky. Things could have gone sideways for me very fast and then who would have taken care of you? You had already lost one parent... What would have happened to you if I hadn't taken the deal?" he said, he did it to protect you and it was hard to stay mad at him for that, he was only doing his job.

"Dad..." you got up and went to him. You held him tight as he held you back. You could feel him brushing away a few tears. As you hugged him, something inside you clicked. "Wait... If mom was a witch... and you're a wizard... does that mean..." you said slowly.

"Yes, honey..." he said, seeing where you were going with the question, "You're a witch."
