On the weekend, Isla had to refrain from visiting the tree.
She didn't want to appear before the delivery of the letter or catch the person leaving them.
Despite wanting to know who they were, hiding in a bush wasn't the way she wanted to go about it.
Isla respected their space unlike her parents who kept walking into her bedroom.
So she escaped to the old tree house outside.
She knew her parents could see from the kitchen window, so it meant they could supervise her from a distance.
It was an unspoken compromise she was willing to make.
She opened her journal, the book she was beginning to love, to write her next letter.
Diving deeper into the issue, she began writing about the betrayal of her best friend, Claire.
When she began falling for Duncan, Claire told her to stay away from him.
She gave her every reason to hate him.
Isla ignored her comments because she thought her friend was concerned.
Little did she know, Claire wanted him for herself, and she was prepared to hurt her in the process.
