The Nanny

Aubrey

I rolled over to my side surprised that Nick wasn't there. Where did he go? Maybe he had to go to work.

Things were the same as they were last night, my robe in the same place Nick had took it off, and our wine glasses on the bedside. I can't believe I had such a great time with him last night. He gave me an all new experience, and I would be more than glad if I saw him again.

I turned on my phone, and had to squint my eyes, by the bright screen. I lowered my brightness, and unlocked my phone.

My phone started ringing and before I could even check the caller ID, I picked up.

"Aubrey." He said in his business tone.

I knew who it was instantly, for he was the one that raised me for 18 years, "Daddy." I greeted.

I already knew what this call is about... the deal we made, exactly six months from today.

"What are you up to?" He asked me.

I replied nonchalantly, sitting up. "Just in bed."

"Is your friend there?" By "friend", he meant boyfriend. He didn't know me and Jackson were over, and I wasn't quiet ready to tell him.

"No." I don't like this topic, "So daddy, why did you really call?"

I loved my father and all, and he loved me too. I was his little pumpkin, and I was an overly spoiled daddies girl, it's just that, I live in Miami, and he lives in New York. He calls whenever I'm doing something I'm not supposed to be doing.

How does he know? My father is a very powerful man, and I was everything to him, so of course he had men watching me.

"Your times up." He said, regarding to the deal we made six months ago, in March.

After I graduated high school, I told my dad I wanted a few years to myself before college. Of course he wasn't happy with the idea, but allowed it, as long as I got a job, and not just live off the money he puts in my bank account.

I didn't plan on getting a job, until March when he rekindled the idea, he said I had six months to find a decent job, or he'd find a job for me, probably working for him, back in New York. Of course I dreaded the idea of moving back to New York and working in an office, but finding a job had been the last thing on my mind. I thought he'd eventually forget about it, but apparently not.

"I know, but please daddy, I love Miami!" I pleaded with him.

His voice was softer now, "I know honey, that's why I have another offer for a job... in Miami."

"Whatever it is, I'll do it!" So-not-true, you wouldn't find this girl working at a drive thru window, but I just said it in the heat of the moment.

"Well, my business partner who's also a dear friend, is looking for a nanny." Now, he's the one sounding nervous .

"A nanny?!" I cried. "Isn't that only for poor people?"

"No, anyone can be a nanny." He said impatiently, "And, you'll be receiving, a very high paycheck. I know you'll like working in a mansion in Miami better than an office with your old man, back here."

"I want to meet the people first." I said.

He let out a breath, "Deal. I set you up an interview with them, I'll have Kelly text the details."

Uh, more of the deals, "Okay, bye daddy."

"Bye pumpkin. Good luck."

As I hang up the phone, I receive a text from Kelly, my dads 29 year old secretary/assistant, and also my bestest friend.

Your interview is scheduled for 7PM tonight , dress nice and don't be late . The family's address is : 3149 Wells Drive . Good luck , Aub.

Kelly was the closest thing I had to a mother and best friend. I've never met my actual mom, but I don't mind. Kelly has been in my life since I was a toddler, she'd babysit me, and that's the closest thing I had to a mothers figure.

There was also a text from an unknown number so I opened it.

A smile instantly made its way to my face as I read it

last night was great, hope we can do it again ; )

I smirked and replied back:

oh definitely .

I checked the time, and it was 8AM, so I decided on going on a run. It's been a while since I'd gotten any exercise, so now would be a good time to make it a habit.

I dug through boxes and made an outfit of my Nike sports bra, headband, running leggings, and free run sneakers. I admired my appearance in the full body mirror my bedroom had.

I walked out of the hotel, ignoring the many stares I got. I knew I was gorgeous, so I was used to people constantly staring. I plugged my ears with my headphones, and slid my phone into the inner pocket of my leggings, and ran.

I forgot how great it felt to just run.

After what my phone had tracked as six and a half miles, I stopped in front of a retro coffee shop to take a breather.

I caught sight of another runner coming from the opposite direction, and my breath hitched in awe as I stared at the man coming in my direction.

Oh god, was he gorgeous. I'd never seen anyone like him, he was a masterpiece. He was even more sweaty than I was, but still managed to look like a god. I carefully eyed him, and was filled with happiness when he walked into the same coffee shop I'd been standing in front of.

Oh how much I want whoever this stranger was, and I, Aubrey Adams always got what I wanted.

I readjusted myself, and coolly walked into the coffee shop, gaining all the eyes— especially his.

Stranger danger, huh? Not for Aubrey
