Flickering streetlights blurred to phosphenes at a quarter to twelve, the many broad roads almost painfully quiet.

Not a soul stumbled across the concrete outside, only cannibalistic corpses and decomposing bodies.

An unintentional fire blazed in the distance and a car alarm blared noisily a few streets over.

Namjoon pursed his lips as the familiar audio of a call going to voicemail sounded once again.

His heart raced with anxiety. Either the landlines had gone down already, or something had happened to Yoongi.

He didn't want to think of either.

Jimin's absence, too, frightened him. Without his mellow, reassuring tone and soft murmurs, each member felt lost.

A fire was lit in the centre of the room, crackling and spitting ashes. Namjoon stared at it for a while, lost, before glancing around.

Jungkook and Taehyung lay cuddling each other amidst their slumber on a rugged sofa, a fluffy brown blanket strewn across their bodies.

They had both become so frightened that they thought the only way to block it out was to feel nothing at all. Their idea of 'feeling nothing' was the innocent act of falling asleep.

Hoseok lay upon a thick duvet on the floor in front of the sleeping pair, eyes peeled open wide. Even from across the room, Namjoon could feel his fear and anxiety.

He drew the rainbow blanket taken from Jin's house up to his neck, eyes darting everywhere in fright. The dark circles under his eyes were evident already, and Namjoon feared that this was only the beginning of his many sleepless nights.

Jin was slouched upon an old wooden chair in front of the dim firelight, his head in his hands, elbows propped up on his thighs. He was silent, half-dozing and half crazed with worry.

Sighing quietly, Namjoon stood from his place and gathered a thick blanket from the corner. He strode to Jin with a quietude that rivalled even a mouse and settled it on his shoulders.

Softly, he placed his hand on his hyung's back for comfort. A pain so strong struck his chest when Jin flinched.

He let his hands drop and eyes meet Namjoon's own. The junior managed a small smile, and although Jin tried to return it, his lips felt stiff.

Bang.

Jin and Namjoon's head swung in the direction of the window.

Hoseok jumped at the noise, throwing his blanket off his rigid frame and scrambling to pull himself into a sitting position.

His head snapped over to the pair of older men near the fire, intensifying fright flaring in his coffee-coloured eyes.

"It's okay." Namjoon assured both him and his hyung, rubbing a warm hand up and down a tense Jin's back.

A sound mirroring the previous hit rang out, sonorous in the barely furnished room.

Hoseok fumbled with the blanket, hurrying over to stand beside both of his hyungs.

Namjoon pursed his lips. He was sure he had fortified the room well enough, but doubt ate away at his vulnerable mind.

Inching toward the boarded windows, he sent a reassuring glance to Hoseok and Jin.

His knees bent slowly as he crouched, peering out of a crack in the boards. A bloody fingernail tugged away at the wood hungrily.

Namjoon bit his cheek. He leaned down and picked up the hammer cast to the side of it, some stray nails and plenty of wooden boards.

The odd audio of perforating walls, crackling fire and inhumane groans sent goosebumps breaking out on the surface of the member's skin.

Hoseok clung lightly to Jin's arm.

They were all so, so afraid. Nobody truly knew what to do, nor did they understand how it was possible to adapt to such an abrupt, harsh world.

And so, the members could only silently brood as the crackling fire swallowed the negativity of tomorrow.
