Chapter Thirty One

After a bumpy landing, we all started to get off. Theo leads with me behind him and the Commander right behind me. A lieutenant then comes and greats us as he explains to us what has been happening.

"Squad 1231 was sent out about a day ago, and they radioed in that the refugee camp was attacked and two units were sent out to aid the people. One team is about halfway back with people that need assistance, but that was radioed about twenty minutes ago so they should be arriving soon. We got a call earlier this morning saying that the rebels had retreated, but a lot of people are showing systems of Death's Curse."

"Death's Curse?" I ask as we were walking into an office.

"The infection, ma'ma. The soldiers have given it a name."

"Okay and not to be rude or anything, but I need to go to the lab we have and start working on a project. Come and get me if you gentlemen need anything, it's just this matter is very urgent, and I also like to be notified when these people arrive. I want the pupils with this Death's Curse under observation as well as quarantine if possible."

"Yes, Aubrie you may go. Take Kyle and Max with you they should be able to help."

"Yes, Sir. Let's go boys." I say as I confidently walk out of the office with them following me. I lead my way down to the lab and see that some of the shipments we brought in when we arrived had already be delivered down here.

I go to work quickly and make the formula in silence. While making it, I realized that the radio that was supposed to say in this room had been taking out.

"Kyle can you please go grab the radio..." I say and then stop as I see who walked through the door and entered the lab.

"Aubrie."

"Elijah."

In less than ten seconds I'm off the ground, and he's spinning me around.

"I'm so happy to see you. It's been forever." He says as he sets me down and then moves in to kiss me.

"Eli," I say as I move away and avoid his kiss.

"Right you were never big on displaying affection here." He says as he just notices that Max and Kyle were in the room.

"No, it's not that Eli. I found my mate, and I know he would kill you if you kissed me." I say, and then the radio beeps, and I punch him.

"What was that for?" He roars in shock.

"Oh come on you big baby that didn't hurt and how many times do I have to remind you that the radio never leaves the lab! "

"Okay but there was an urgent radio call in that I had to take, and I forgot to switch it out with the one outside the door and please let's not act like you haven't done it before."

"Oh, whatever."

"Well, it was nice to see you, and I'll have to catch up with you later. I need to finally be able to sleep and now with another person here to do lab work I have officially been able to go to bed for a couple of hours. However, if you need me at any time I'm in campsite three."

"Okay, will do. Now go sleep before you fall over because honestly while you were spinning me, I thought I was going to fall because you were leaning."

He hands me the radio and then walks out, and I notice that Kyle and Max are staring at me.

"So, who was that?" Max asks.

I return to working on the antibiotic and say, "Elijah."

"Okay and were you ever in a relationship?"
